Apparently that leaves only Ohio where state laws prohibit it.

Texans will be able to buy "firearms" like the Shockwave, as an amendment to the law that will make Texas ready if the HPA passes, from the TSRA Email newletter:

"It was brought to our attention by TSRA members that the Mossberg 590 Shockwave cannot be purchased in two states: Texas and Ohio.

With the problem in mind, Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) offered a senate amendment to the House bill which corrects existing state law.

The addition of the senate amendment caused HB1819 to be returned to the House for concurrence and at 8:55 last night HB1819 with the amendment was accepted! The amendment will allow Texans to purchase this defensive shotgun."

But I suspect we'll have to wait until Sept 1 when most new laws take effect.

Well done Alice Tripp and the whole TSRA crew!

Congrats! I'm happy for those who live in America still!

md considers it a pistol so you can buy it here but have to have a handgun permit to buy it, also, it is very restictive of you then being able to transport is since they call it a handgun here. So, most dealers aren't messing with them here since demand is rather low. In a state with millions I think less than 80,000 have that permit.

We were fortunate that he legislature was in session and pro-gun bills were in progress that could be amended when these hit the market, otherwise we'd need to wait two years for the next session, at least. This made TSRA's quick action even more important and impressive!

The TSRA is extremely productive when it comes to getting pro-gun legislation passed and in blocking anti-gun legislation. What's more amazing is that it manages to be very effective even with very low membership levels. Last I checked, there were fewer than 50,000 TSRA members. I'd really like to see what it would be capable of if just 2% of TX gun owners would sign up to be members...

So at this point, is Texas basically devoid of all stricter-than-federal weapons type regs? I heard we nixed the knife rules the other day, too.
