Civilian Border Patrol Operations Reported to Mexico

Tuesday , May 09, 2006

LOS ANGELES — The U.S. Border Patrol is alerting the Mexican government to the locations of civilian border patrol groups when the organizations help detain suspected illegal immigrants or use violence against them, according to a published report.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Mario Martinez told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario that the policy is meant to assure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

The policy pertains to groups including the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and the Friends of the Border Patrol, a Chino-based nonprofit.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Martinez said Monday. "This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members, however, said the Border Patrol's policy negates the private group's effectiveness and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, the organization's founder. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels."

The Daily Bulletin said it was unable to reach officials with the Mexican consulate in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

TJ Bonner, president of the Border Patrol agents' union, said members have long complained that the Mexican government has undue influence over U.S. enforcement policies.

"That's not a legitimate role for any foreign nation," Bonner said

I guess this means our government is now defacto alerting the coyotes and drug runners where not to cross.

and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person.

Who exactly are we turning over to that government? The illegal or the MM who detained him or her?

I shutter to think where the information we are supplying the Mexican government is going if there are terrorists in the mix ....

As much as this infuriates me, it does not surprise me. Our government has lost respect for her own citizens, and things are going to get worse before they get better. Shame we have allowed things to progress to this point.

Is there any doubt that Vincente Fox "has" something on Bush?

I don't know if it's evidence of illegal activity or something as simple as 8x10 glossies of Bush which would be . . . embarassing . . . were they to become public, but NOTHING said in public explains the anti-American, pro-foreign-criminal policies of this administration. It seems every day there's a new outrage.

(Also, though there have been encounters, how many illegal aliens have been arrested - that is, detained at gunpoint and tied up or handcuffed - by Minutemen? I thought they were simply observing and reporting?)

The Minutemen are handing out t-shirts to the illegals that say something along the lines of "I got stopped by a minuteman." They are also videotaping every encounter because they know they will have to defend their actions in court. In the last "abuse" case that I remember, it was proven that all the accused minuteman did was give the illegal a t-shirt and then offer to escort him to la migra's location. The illegal voluntarily went back to Mexico, were he was found by some ACLU lawyer who either convinced the DA to prosecute or filed a civil suit (I don't remember if it was in civil court or criminal court).

Who in the government determined the policy of identifying the locations of civilian monitors was acceptable, indeed necessary?

Was any consideration given to the safety of American citizens if those locations were disclosed? Surely not every one in those areas is associated with the civilian monitoring efforts. Average people live in some of those locations.

Was any consideration given to the argument that, at the very minimum, supplying that information actually enhanced the effectiveness of illegal crossings and drug smuggling opertions?

Someone should be fired for this.

Other than - well, you know ... crossing the border illegally ...

The one thing that <upsets> me more than anything is the way "anti-illegal immigration" is reduced to simply being anti-immigrant. People in this country are just looking for ways to legitimize not only disregarding the fact that a law is being broken but acually rewarding (with citizenship) those that break the law. I see this no different than allowing a group like NAMBLA to do their thing. If people disagree with a law they need to try to enchourage changes in legislation not condone breaking the law.

How absolutely intellectually vapid, must one be in order to become employed by this stupid-<bleep> agency? "we will not tolerate lawlessness????????"

I am really getting <hacked> at our so called Congressional Representatives, with the fact that that this individual is still employed by the federal government, and I am PAYING HIM a salary, and secondly, that the entire agency, would commit an act of TREASON.

It's the new triangular trade.

Welfare money in the streets,
to drug money south of the border,
to bribe money in Washington DC.

Who is disgusted. :barf:

Is there any longer any doubt that our government is not on our side? They will do whatever it takes to ensure that our borders are overrun. It goes against their long term plans to have secure and defended borders. Their goal is a political union between the United States and Mexico, along with all of South America and Canada. Secure borders are the exact opposite of what they want, thus this betrayal.

A while back, Longeyes came here and said something like, "This will not end well on the border."

My belief is that the gov of the US should be very carefull with how it acts along the US southern border. Alienating Americans is a very bad idea. And if the Minutemen are attacked by the US, or by Mexicans acting on US intel, heads will role, and those heads will be in Washington. People will be leaving office for people concerned with the border arriving in Washington.

We need to be very carefull. Nip
this in the bud before things get hot.

turnabouts fairplay, right? can we tell mexico where the border patrol is? wait, they already know they are nowhere near where they need to be.

ASTOUNDING

I just got off the phone with Kay Hutchison's office, after talking their "Aides" through not only finding this article on the web, but explaining Article I, Section Eight of the U.S. Constitution to them, and they could not possibly be less interested in the fact that the people in the United States INS California office have committed an act of obvious treason.

Aiding and providing comfort to the enemy during an invasion, is at best, treason.

And Senator Hutchison's people couldn't be any more less interested in te fact, that the Border Patrol is targeting law abiding citizens for assassination by Mexican Soldado/Drug Smugglers.

Our nation is at peril, and we let mealy mouthed "moderates" run our country into the ground, all in order to appear "politically correct". This is shameful.

If only it were so simple as an attempt to appear politically correct. Isn't it obvious that our government favors a massive influx of Mexicans into our nation? What do you suppose the purpose is? They want us to throw up our hands and finally "realize" that it is an unsolvable problem (and all that that implies), even though pre-1960s America had no trouble at all controlling our boarders, and keeping legal immigration down to manageable levels. Have we become incompetent since then? Of course not. If there was any will at all, it could be stopped. In fact, just get out of the way of citizen groups and local law enforcement, and they will handle it on their own. That's why the Federal Government is working against those groups. Their successes show the whole country that it is not at all difficult to control our borders, if there is a will and any effort at all. That's a message the Federal Government absolutely does not want getting out.

Just when I became a comfortable 3rd party voter, this happens.

I am now so upset with the RP it's enough to make me throw my vote in directions that are almost totally unthinkable especially after having lived thru Jimmy Carter's administration.

Wouldn't it be amazing if Hillary or someother Dem won and part of the lead was due to outraged ex-Republicans. I guess that would make it a revolt-vote. I'm about there.

What in the name of Heaven is this country coming to?

Illegal immigration is good for business. It's as simple as that. (Though the reasons it's good for business might be a little more complex....)
