I know people that use regular smokeless lubed bullets with pyrodex and other BP subs all the time. That is some of their reasons for using the subs. It does foul worse than good BP lube though.

there is no such thing as too much cleaning with Pyrodex. That stuff is horrible.

After the smoke clears and you remove your hearing protection you can listen real close and hear your gun rust.

I know what you mean first hand. While I never used the stuff a buddy just bought a 1860 Colt repro off of Gunbroker that was previously shot with Pyrodex. The stuff was sticky like tar. I had to use a wire brush on the brass trigger guard in an attempt to remove it and its now all over my wire brush. But, if you can't get anything else I guess you have to use it.
