UK to ban ninja style blades

Ninja sword ban in place by summer after 'relentless' campaign by family of murdered teenager

Ronan Kanda, 16, was stabbed to death with a ninja sword yards away from his home in 2022. Now, the final part of Ronan's Law will make it illegal to possess, sell, make, or import ninja swords.

So what are they calling a "ninja sword"? A 'ninja-style' sword is typically defined as a blade measuring between 14 and 24 inches with a single straight cutting edge and a tanto-style point. According to the Home Office, it must have a straight primary edge, a secondary straight edge, and a blunt spine. The tanto-style point features a sharp angle of less than 90 degrees between the two cutting edges, with a greater than 90-degree angle to the spine. Reverse tanto designs – where the angles are flipped – are also included in the definition.

Ive seen some UK news feeds talking about Zombie knives as a problem. I think Spyderco made a UK compliant knife, IIRC.

Why are they prejudice against ninja's?

next up

UK bans Roman Gladius', Scythian Swords, Scottish Dirks but grant a carve out to the German Messer Sword (Bill Ruger's heritage).

So, will shuriken and nunchako be next?

I want to remember there was an issue where the tv show "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was to be renamed "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" or some such, so Nihongophobia is not new to the UK.

Just when the UK turned away from the Common law definitions of self defense and returned to the notion that all people in Briton are property of the Crown, and one cannot exercise violence against the King's subjects without the permission, the specific permission of the King or his agents.

but grant a carve out to Scottish Dirks.
The problem being that Scotland, the political entity, has wanted to ban all public ownership of weapons for sometime now.
And, there's considerable nitpicking over whether skean dhu are "weapons" or "attire," then, whether a dirk or dagger can be worn by the commoners.

Saw a video where they sent young Explorer type kids into shops to buy kitchen knives. Kids walked out, with the knives, and were interviewed. They were absolutely horrified that they were able to buy them. Looked like they were going to be ill and would have to wash their hands because they touched a killing device.

Cops swooped in. Chastised the shop owners for failing to ID the kids that, I might add, looked nothing like the people that are killing people all over the UK, before selling them knives and, that charges would be filed next time.

They're not prejudiced against ninjas or zombies. They have a bunch of criminal youths using whatever "mail order" "fantasy" knives in violent crimes and they try to ban the implement, like we do, instead of addressing the root cause of the violence.

We like to deceive ourselves that we're any better than that, but thank your lucky stars for Knife Rights eliminating blade length and blade shape, and opening and closing mechanism laws that were in place all over the US. All those laws were in place here, we just called them "Dueling" or "Bowie" or "Dirk/Dagger" or ... prohibitions. It is easy to forget the restrictions that were in place, but KR fought those battles for you and I doubt I'll forget them. Most of you wouldn't believe it was illegal to carry a bowie knife outside of reenactments in TX until Knife Rights spent 10 years there whittling away at all the blade restrictions.

KR has had Europeans and UK residents beg us to start up in their countries, but they need to follow KR's lead and start their own effort to push back like we did.

As I've said before, England is why America exists.

Tim
Funny because I just recently commented the same thing to a UK reaction video to U.S. gun rights just yesterday, where the thousand of comments were trashing the U.S., our gun laws, and boasting about how much safer and superior they are to us. How they'd never step foot in America.

The UK talks about "knife crime" almost verbatim in the same way the left and antigunners talk about gun violence. It's like they're using the same exact propaganda, talking points, and tactics. The left are insatiable. They're not going to stop at AWB, mag and capacity limits, or any of the other "common sense" crap. Once they ban guns, it'll be our knives they go after. After they ban knives, it'll just be something else. Seems like both our governments want the masses to be completely unarmed and defenseless. One party is trying to accomplish what the British couldn't all that time ago....

It’s almost like they have a plan

The Limeys have been restricting knives for a long time.
The bosun on a Royal Navy sailing ship would break the points off sailor’s clasp knives in an effort to prevent or at least reduce the severity of shipboard fights.
