I know there has to be a lot of these being used or at least purchased. How are they for light to medium use and CC. I also see them with the V-10 ported bbl. Pro's Con's? Recommend or not? And is the Colt Defender in the same boat, better or worse?

I carry a Springfield Ultra Compact full time and I love it. Best carry gun I've ever had. It was delivered to my buddy's range (he's the FFL) and I had him change the grips over to some slim wooden grips before I drove over to pick it up. Didn't want to even see it, let alone pick it up, with them fingy gripper grips on it.

My buddy who owns the range is also a gunsmith and a 1911 guru. Too often I've seen him working on a gun and have heard him say "Colt never did know how to make a 1911".

I couldn't be happier with my Springfield. My Kimber is a great gun but my Springfield is better built.

    nemesis,

Thanks, it looks nice those perdy grip panels! See, it seems like I have heard a lot of folks say they own the Defender, that's why included them both in the question. They seem like the same damn gun to me?
