After checking out the BFR today ... ran some tests on MagTech .44 mag ammo and also UMC .45acp. I had found when trying the Rohrbaugh R9S recently that the UMC 9mm was diabolical!! Having got some in .45 decided to check it out to see if it was worth a light!. No SD - too lazy to do the calc's ... Chrony printer batteries died, and no spares .. duh!

Put ten rounds thru para P12-45 (3 1/2" tube) and 12 rnds thru M625-6 (5" tube). Here are results - (25 yds target) .....

Ammo type ........ Remington UMC .45 acp 230 grn FMJ

(dropped decimal point - rounded figures)

Shot # 1 - 733 fps
Shot # 2 - 760 fps
Shot # 3 - 763 fps
Shot # 4 - 763 fps
Shot # 5 - 741 fps
Shot # 6 - 744 fps
Shot # 7 - 757 fps
Shot # 8 - 764 fps
Shot # 9 - 769 fps
Shot # 10 -746 fps

Low vel = 733 fps
Hi vel = 769 fps
Average vel = 754 fps
Hi-Lo extreme spread = 36 fps
Muzzle energy (based on average vel) = 290 ft lbs

(Interest comment ---- the Golden Saber 9mm, out of R9S came up with ME of 275 ft lbs ..... and from shorter tube! So, even if the .45UMC down on power, compared to other brands of .45, still strikes me as interesting near parity!)

And here, the 12 rounds thru M625-6 .......

Ammo type ........ Remington UMC .45 acp 230 grn FMJ

(dropped decimal point - rounded figures)

Shot # 1 - 860 fps
Shot # 2 - 839 fps
Shot # 3 - 850 fps
Shot # 4 - 830 fps
Shot # 5 - 821 fps
Shot # 6 - 839 fps
Shot # 7 - 816 fps
Shot # 8 - 833 fps
Shot # 9 - 836 fps
Shot # 10 -831 fps
Shot # 11 -815 fps
Shot # 12 -827 fps

Low vel = 815 fps
Hi vel = 860 fps
Average vel = 833 fps
Hi-Lo extreme spread = 45 fps
Muzzle energy (based on average vel) = 354 ft lbs

Quite a useful increase in ME out of the revo!

Actually shot off another 18 rounds (just too much fun!) ... results I think held pretty close. Final 6 I put on the splatter target below ..... the shot to left was my ineptitude ... called it there too - other five not so bad. One prob with the big black target and backlight - you tend to lose sight picture. Sights took a lot of adjustment - (first outing and danged if I know how previous owner had hit anything they were so far out) .. but another small tweak next time and they'll be fine. Time was beating me.
