I'm a member of the Jewish pro-gun group the Zelman Partisans. It's a group founded by former JPFO members, including Brad Alpert, owner of Missouri Bullet Company.

He posted this today. They offered to open a dialogue with Ted after the recent dust-up where he was accused of being anti-Jewish due to a facebook post. I encourage anyone who read the original story to read this:

Thanks for the link. In the article he is quoted as responding to the inquiry “I sincerely apologize for my irresponsible re-posting of such a nasty and offensive meme. In my rush between songwriting jams and musical recording frenzy, all I saw was the images of people dedicated to disarm us, I made no connection whatsoever to any religious affiliation. <...>" The $64 question is why he didn't immediately publicly post such a statement as soon as the matter became public. Besides which, are we really supposed to believe he didn't see the Israeli flags on every photo?

He didn't realize where the meme originated. I'm sure he saw the flags. He isn't afraid to call out Jewish folk who are part of the problem. He didn't know that image was created by people who thnk Jews are the cause of every problem.

If the photo montage had only been photos of the people, I wouldn't have a problem with it from the POV of antisemitism, although it would make me sad. But the Israeli flags sent the message loud and clear: "All these people are Jews." Not to mention conflating Jews and Israelis, a favorite pastime of the current crop of antisemites.

Too little, too late. Nugent says no one contacted him to set the record straight.

He had no problem posting the original material. Why would he hesitate to set the record straight himself once he "realized" what he'd posted?

I agree. I find it beyond believable that anyone could miss that, particularly someone as "smart" as Ted. The message, while factually correct, insinuated that those pesky Jews are the source of the problem.

And yet no one would expect any anti gunner to correct their mistakes. Like, that thingy that goes up.

I see people trying to make the charge stick, when in the face of it, the people identified are representative of their religion and have expressed their views. Others of the same religion have posted an opposite viewpoint. It's clearly an issue of division within the Hebrew religion - same as certain white Protestant denominations.

So, the take away is that people are playing the "Jew" card to demonize him, and the reality is his long term views on gun control far aweigh any anti-Semitism attributed to him. We are focusing on a news item with a very short duration and no background of any extensive depth.

Does Nugent's overall racism weigh as heavily as Al Sharpton's? If we want to keep pursuing things the thread's going full speed ahead into getting closed.

It's evident he's stepped on it and pointing it out is just snarkiness on the poster's part. The reality is attributing any weight to an entertainer means taking some other Hollywood bimbo's anti gun stance with equal weight.

This is gossip column stuff -

2A or anti-gun is politics. We all understand that. He went too far by bringing religion into it, and not his own. Dumb move.

The "Jew card"? Half the people upset with him are pro gun, just question his method. He likes to think of himself as a spokesperson for pro gun. He certainly doesn't represent my views.

In fairness to Ted Nugent, American Jewish groups have been big gun control supporters for a long time.

I think many people equate Israel with Jews because American Jews have been so slavish to the Israeli cause.

Ted is still an idiot who certainly does not represent me. Everytime he opens his mouth in an attempt to speak for the "pro gun" community I cringe. :banghead:

^^^ I agree. Besides his proven lack of hunting ethics, he promotes gun rights similar to those two jacks open carrying their long guns into Chipotle.

Ted owes us an explanation for the graphic as well as the followup "Never again" comment. His first defensive response to criticism on Facebook did not cut it.

Not really on topic for THR. It just happens to be about a well known gun advocate.
