Unlike shoebox1.1's moment of insanity, this is a real one! ;-)

Location
Big Bend of FL, originally from Miami.
Local shop has a Rossi Model 441 in .44 Magnum. It is a 2-inch snub-nose 5-shot shot piece.

Looks just like this.

Fiberoptic front sight, squishy ribbed for pleasure grips, and a price tag of $450.

Now, I clearly DON'T NEED IT.

But the primitive reptilian lizard brain in my head says "OH, YOU NEED THIS, IT IS COMPACT AND MAKES LOUD FIRE NOISE WHICH COOKS MEAT AND MAKE WRISTS HURT!"

Should I listen to the logic side, or the primitive reptilian lizard brain and satisfy my primal animalistic urges for something that just doesn't destroy the target, but also me, and cooks both things at the same time!

*Logical part of my brain just says buy it and carry it with .44 Specials. I did tell the shop to put it aside for me.

thinking is your 1st problem! just let the knuckles drag and pull out the caveman card!

21 grains of H110, 240g lead…. nothing but a good firework show!

full house .44 Mag hurts fast. I just did a reduced load of 16.2grain of H110 for a lighter .44. Going to test it on a light weight Taurus Friday
This is the wrist breaker.

Did some research on 'em. They were a contract special by Academy Sports back in 2011-2012 time frame. Limited store run. Rossi made 'em for Academy Sports and that was it.

They had a MSRP back them of $369. In today's money due to inflation, that is $369 in 2013 is about $503.19 today.

So, $450 ain't a bad price and is still under "brand new" price under today's dollar value.

those Grips look like the can absorb some recoils twang!

you so 90’s Miami! 👊
Well, yeah. I came of age as a shooter and a testosterone loaded idiot in the 1990s.

If I still had enough hair today, I would gel and spike my hair.

Oh well, I don't have the hair to gel. So instead, I'll just set stuff on fire and break my wrists with a snub-nose .44 Mag.

Spruce up the beard instead

I would use logic on this one. Rossi offers 1 year limited warranty to the original owner. Apparently shipping costs under warranty are responsibility of the owner, no thanks.

I like it… but only for shooting .44spl. Think of the extra cylinder weight as helping make the recoil more pleasant. And you have the versatility to shoot the magnums if you had to. (But just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.) As an interesting alternative to a Charter Bulldog this has much to recommend it.

$450 for a Rossi 😮
I guess that's what happens when you print money.

It does have a cool factor.
Rossi's RP63 in .357 Magnum right now is on sale for $359 with free shipping from one online vendor. Elsewhere, they're sold out for the most part.

Midway USA has 'em in stock too, for $428 though.

Inflation, rising costs in labor in Brazil, and the overall increase in materials has even made guns like Rossi no longer be a sub $250 gun these days.

@PavelSJ, Taurus (who owns Rossi) still does the life-time warranty but they've limited it to the original buyer now (used to be the gun was covered, period even if purchased used) and now they're limiting what is covered too these days.

GLOCK for example basically has a one-year warranty too. After that, you have to pay out of pocket.

Same with S&W. After the one year is up, you got to pay for repairs, shipping, etc.

It is the way the industry works these days.

I don't bother with either Taurus or Rossi, but will buy used Ruger instead. Some companies mass producing handguns have QC issues, but I rather have backing of Ruger SD.
Some Taurus guns have high asking prices like this one:

It must be caliber related Latino thing. Frankly with 10mm autos available I don't understand the appeal.

Brother, you hadda ask?

Enablers Unanimous, Activate! 👍 Purchase approved, now go shoot!

As for snubby BBQ, I prefer a brown sugar based rub when H-110 is on the menu. It adds a bit of sweet to counter the nitrocellulose spice. 😉

Let us know how it shoots with magnums, and specials, when you get a chance to shoot. 😀

Stay safe.

Yes it does, I'd have been sorely tempted, although it would have seen .44 Specials or downloaded .44 Mag. It could sleep next to my Charter Arms 3" Bulldog .44 Spl.
I have a 70s production Bulldog and it is a hoot to shoot with some .44 Special loads.

The regular .44 Special replicates the later .44 Russian loads actually and I have a pile of that.

I have a 4" pre-lock 629 Mountain Gun along with a gaggle of 6" and 8" N-Frames.

The Mountain Gun is a bit of a rocket with full power loads.

When I get this Rossi, it'll mostly be carried with .44 Special, but I do like the fact that I can launch some spicy .44 Magnums.
