An Idea for a pre weekend activity is maybe if he is free have Gabe Suarez teach a class. He'll be in Texas around the time of the get to gether and If there is enough intrest he may be up to it.
 
Art, I am a NRA member, so you can update that list.

This is great that we have a date set now! I was just thinking on my way into work tonight about what I wanted to do for my vacation next spring. I was thinking, "Something in the Southwest would be nice." Then I recalled the early discussion of this event, and good thing I checked! So, I'll get this marked on my calendar.

Is there going to be opportunity for and/or a class in Long Range Rifle shooting?

I too learned about it from Justin's signature. My 13 y/o son will be getting out of school the week after this event, but we will try to talk momma (the boss) into letting us come.
I am an NRA member.
 
FYI, I can be up there as early as the Saturday before. I plan on taking the whole week off anyway. Buddy of mine has family in Raton so we will be up there anyway. If you guys need me to do anything between the Saturday before and the end of the show by all means let me know.

I'll get this started now. I'll be driving out from North Carolina. Anybody wanna carpool?
 
I "joined" the NRA for this event, and paid a small amount, declining the magazines etc.

All I got back besides literature was an NRA member sticker, and an invitation to join the NRA for another $25. No card. I think something referred to me as an "associate member".

Does that count for this event and for NRA-sponsored events?

Yes I am planning on being part of the Colorado Contingency. I'll be the guy running from Sandy Ashcraft with a cast iron skillet in hand and using Sadie as a shield. It worked last time... ;)

Yes I am planning on bringing a copy of The Old Man and The Boy by Ruark and reading to kids - don't matter how big the kids are, just I plan on having a reading session and passing the book around and sharing with kids of all ages and sizes.

I figure we can get Art to be the "Old Man" and I can be the "Boy" and he tell me how stupid I look "getting all caught up in fence" , or "pick only one quail to shoot, don't be just blasting away at the whole covey".

Fair warning : I plan on spoiling kids and dawgs something fierce. :)

I could not carry a tune if it had handles on it...

I have fired thousands of shotgun rds while Seger was being played...ditto with some other artists.

Larry, Dave and a few others are attempting to bribe me into doing something...involves me with a shotgun, Seger being played, and me doing : Here is a little something from back in...

I am not really planning on shooting at this gathering, except to take BP lessons and use a BP shotgun. :D

My main thing is to meet folks, spoil kids, dawgs, RO and mess with folks something crazy while I pull "Crazy Quail" - Warning - I pull this rough and take no mercy! :evil:

Oh and EAT some good food!

Larry and Dave - few others know of what I speak. My sig song was "Turn the Page"...and things got a "little out of of normal" *snicker*.

I'll have to instruct someone on how to pull this thing...

I just checked MapQuest and it says:

(Finally after being Transferred with the Military something I want to do is not on the other side of the Country from us....:what: )

So I'll be there and So should my Wife and Son (6yrs by that time).
If for some reason my Wife can't come it will because she has Re-Deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan.

I'll be getting our NRA Membership within the next month.
 
I'd like to offer rides but I'll be up hunting turkey in AZ White mountains prior to arriving there. I'm taking 3 weeks off so I'll be in Raton plenty early.
 
Looks like I may be in Albuquerque May 7-18 so Raton will be an easy trip north. Only problem will be having my smoke sticks I'll be in class in Albuquerque for class so I'm not sure how I can transport my stuff.

Sounds good I'm not sure if I'll be driving or flying yet. Once it gets closer I'll have a better idea.
 
Put me down. I've been lax about the NRA membership. I'll be rejoining shortly.

If anyone wants a ride close at hand wants a ride, let me know. For that matter, I'll post my route later and if anyone close to the route wants a ride, let me know.
