Spent a week or so shop and upgrading the G40 MOS and added the following:

Ameriglo Green Tritium Orange Outline Front Site, Black Rear, Tall Suppressor Set

    NDZ Performance 20lb recoil spring.

Desantis hip holster. Midwayusa had them on sale so I grabbed one. Fits both MOS and non pistols and has good room for tall sights.

FYI the sights were on Amazon for $56.49. Originally planned on going with the F8 XS sights like I have on my G32 but decided to save $80 and go with those instead. Also like the simplicity of these sights for woods carry. Not sure yet if I’m going to install any red dot on this or not.

Finally, decided not to go with an aftermarket barrel yet u til I run the factory one through the riggers with my reloads.

Oh as a standard, the photo with the front sight clearance and barrel pointed at the camera was with a verified (twice) unloaded firearm…

Nice! One of the things that I like about Glocks is the after-market options

I love my Glock 40. I also have the Ameriglo suppressor sights which cowitness nicely with the Holosun 407K. I have also replaced the factory barrel with a KKM Precision barrel. It has become my primary handgun hunting pistol for deer and hogs.

I hope you enjoy your pistol because they sure are fun to shoot.

Choctaw, is there a big difference in your groups or performance of the G40 using the KKM bbl?

Not really. However, I do like that the KKM's chamber has more support than the factory Glock barrel.

I concur. Ive used a KKM barrel (one standard and one 6 inch) in 2 different Glock 10mms for nearly 20 years and the glock barrel in others. Very little if any difference. They do have a bit more support but ive shot ten of thousands of 10mm and 40 through a Glock 29 and 20 in the past 20 years and find the complaining about barrel support to be largely over stated. In that same time ive had 2 1911 10mms blow out cases. Never one in a Glock, and my most used Glocks are gen3 back when people say they are most unsupported. Everything from bulk BVAC and Georgia arms to hot handloads, old Black talons, silvertips, and Norma. I do have a heavier stainless recoil spring assembly on my hunting gun.

The kkm is also not all that picky on ammo like some match barrels ive used. At this point i don't believe id spend the money on one.

Put about 100 rounds thru the G40 today to include 180 gr FMJ over Longshot, 180 gr XTP smokers over a healthy dose of 800X, 200 gr Underwood JHP, 200 gr and 220 gr Underwood Hardcast. All at 15 yards. Not one failure and all cycled great with the 20 lb recoil spring and factory barrel. No Glock smiles either with the 800X loads.

Did you find yourself wishing you had a 40 so you could REALLY do something amazing?

The biggest downside of shooting paper with those "smokers" and Underwood rounds is the hole is the same size! It's much more fun if you can get reactive targets - like paint cans or car doors!

Great shooting! Is the G40 trigger better than the classic G20? That's first on my list to change out.

Can’t wait til the weather warms up so I can shoot outside!

First thing I did with the G40 was put a 3.5lb Ghost Connector in it.
