Anybody hear of a US 7.5 mm rifle either WWI or II vintage? I had a fellow tell me that his brother had picked up such a gun with US Army on/under the butt plate.

    7.5?

The only common 7.5mm military rifles I can think of is the MAS 36, a French bolt action. There were also some semi-autos in 7.5 made after WW II by France, some of which have made their way here.

Then there's also the Swiss Schmidt-Rubin in 7.5x55. Lots of these have made it into the United States over the years, and the K31 is pretty popular here right now.

Neither of those was ever made in the US, though.
