I was wondering if it is possible to use a grip safety off of a Kimber Eclipse on a 1911 combat commader type pistol.
It is the standard grip safety that comes on a Kimber Eclipse.
Would the grip safety or frame need any modifications to fit?
    Any info would be appreciated.

Kimbers just use your run-of-the-mill beavertail grip safety. To use a beavertail grip safety with a traditional style frame, you have to do some machining to shorten the tang. Try a Google search, you're bound to find someone's step-by-step photos.

That said, there are drop-in beavertail safeties that do not require modifications to the frame, but they are ugly. Check out Brownells or, again, Google.
