I'm looking at a new lock box for the bedroom. This would be where the HD gun sleeps, but would go back in the safe when I'm not home.

V-line is made in USA using mechanical Simplex lock (push buttons and a knob). They have two models I'm interested in. One is the large Hide-away and the other is the slide-away.

I plan to mount it below my bedframe. They are available on AMZ a bit cheaper. $238 and $299.

I have some of the V Line lock boxes - specifically wall mount and between the stud mount. I like them a lot. For pistols, I went Ft Knox....

Though not secured or bolted down, they do keep little fingers out from where they should not be. If someone is industrious enough to carry it off, my loss.

EDIT others also available....

So I clicked your ft knox link... ok, typical looking small safe.... but the $250 safe comes with a free 2 day class at front sight? Claims thats $1000 value? Is that right?

Yeppers....though I did not get that when I purchased mine. Check the program out, as I do not know anything of it.

Thats really cool... too bad ft knox doesnt have a drawer type unit like v-line. I went ahead and ordered the slide away unit from v-line. Really wish it was coming with a front sight training certificate too!!

Its crazy... if I was looking at going to front sight, which currently I am not, I would buy a safe and save $750 on the training. How can they offer that??

I believe Front Sight is supported by a benefactor. This changes the cost structure significantly.

You will have good results from the VLine. As for the simplex lock, easier to think in a pattern, rather than a combination. Easy to set, and change if need be. As I recall, all the buttons have to be used, they can only be used once, but can be used in conjunction with other buttons.

You don’t have to use all the buttons. You can even set the Simplex lock to open without pushing any buttons and by just turning the knob.

Another feature is you can have a relatively complex combination for security and when going to bed pre-punch part of the combination to where you only need to push the last button for example and turn the knob if needed.

The Simplex lock will also last many years if not a lifetime. My FAS1 Safe is 11 years old next month and works like the day I built it.

My Ft Knox’s are 15 years or sold old....My VLines are 15+, for two, and 10 for one....Simplex locks work.
