That's actually a forwarded or alternative email address from which she is replying to you. She is one of many realtors with Prudential Radford.

I'm taking her off the list now.

Yes, unfortunately it is not a vetted list. I apologize for that. I just didn't have time to take it that far today. What is there took HOURS to compile and the list was sourced from a plethora of websites in various RT print publications.

I may be way out on this but doesn't this fly in the face of the "spirit" of the 4th Amendment..

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

It seems to me thay have now made those law abiding CCW's targets.

    Just thinking at the keyboard..

    About the Boycott list...

CNGERMS, we need to make one set of deletions here. I got a response from one of the agents at radfordrealtors.com:

I'd say that the prudentialradfordrealtors.com addresses should probably be deleted.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that way for many advertisers. People in the Roanoke area generally have their head screwed on right. But we're asking them to do more than simply nod and agree with us: we're asking them to assist in punishing the RT for their actions and attitude. There's a potential cost to those businesses to do that.

    Cngerms,

Thanks for the list of advertisers! I have sent my E-mail. As for getting word to VCDL, there are several members including myself watching and participating in this abuse of journalism that we can ensure he gets the word. :) :D

Wrote my VA State Senator & Delegate

I haven't heard back from my Delegate yet, but Senator Mary Margaret Whipple has said that she was not aware that the CHP master list was released. She will be contacting the State Police to determine why they released it and whether additional legislation is needed to prevent its release in the future.

    cngerms,

Thanks for all the hard work. Are you going to compile a list of Landmark Media's advertisers too? I think getting their attention might get better results. Going after the Roanoke Times is like asking the thief to arrest himself.

By the magic of advanced pattern matching, here's the list without Prudential:

    /* edited */

Just saw the bit about wanting to punish the RT as opposed to simply deleting names.

cngerms, I can fairly easily remove stuff, and I have the list sans prudential - your call, let me know if you want it.

    Hey Folks,

    A few things:

    1. There are a number of large realtors with MANY agents in the Roanoke Area; i.e., REMAX, Long & Foster, etc. These folks are on my next list. The first list was just getting too long to include them. I'm hoping I can have my second list completed over the weekend. (I do have a full-time job...HA!) I think the spaces in time between the lists/emails will help the RT understand we aren't going away.

    2. I will work on a list for Landmark Communications and specifically the Virginian-Pilot in Hampton Roads. I will also target the big folks at the Weather Channel and weather.com. I'm looking for advertisers where Virginians can have the greatest impact in the shortest of time and then we can branch out from there for our 2A friends across the country. Not only do the lists have to be created, but they have to be vetted at some point, too. Creating the first list and form letter took about 6 hours.

    3. Even though I have already made a few exceptions, I'm going to resist taking email addresses off the list unless they are dead emails. In the example above concerning Prudential Radford Realtors, we want individual agents calling the RT to complain, and we want those individual agents bringing pressure to bear on their corporations to change their advertising direction. I appreciate Mr. Wilburn's comments and thoughts, but now is the time for him to call the RT and HIS boss at Prudential Radford. Sometimes corporate pressure to change comes from within. Hopefully, Mr. Wilburn will forward his MANY emails from us up the ladder.

Thanks again, folks, for your determination and all of the emails you're sending. This is how it's done!

    Contact your elected officials, please.

For those of you who missed it earlier, you may use the NRA link below to contact your elected officials. The VA General Assembly may be currently out of session, but their phones still work. Don't forget to write the governor, lt. governor, attorney general and your federal legislators, too.

"Why is Christian Trejbal like a gun?"

    THEY are both "tools"!

    Get it?

    sorry!

Since it IS Sunshine week and all

Well, I have learned a valuable lesson from Mr. Trejbal, I have FOIA'd the VA State Police for the following information:
    - A copy of any correspondence, written or electronic, between Christian
Trejbal and the VA State Police on acquiring this information.

    - I also hereby request a list of people and/or organizations and their
contact information that have also requested this list, or a similar list of Concealed Handgun Permit Holders in the Commonwealth of VA.

    - I also request a list of statutes and any legal guidance that allows the VA State Police to release this list when other Circuit Courts consider it private information.

They are working on getting me a cost estimate, if any, as allowed under VA Law. I have also attached the VA FOIA law for those in VA interested in looking for other information. Sorry folks, it's only for VA residents. Out of state residents' requests are ignored.

Nice! I'd like to see that. Does correspondence include telephone communication because it would seem to be more mail related when most conversations probably happened over the phone? Or is that included?

Just received this from the State Police.

The Virginia State Police is bound by law to comply with Freedom of Information requests pertaining to the release of concealed handgun permits as issued within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The release of concealed handgun permit information is required pursuant to an Official Advisory Opinion issued by Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council (AO 16-01). I have attached a link to that opinion http://dls.state.va.us/groups/foiacouncil/ops/01/AO_16.htm. In addition, for your convenience, I have provided the relevant code sections and opinions related to this matter. The Department does not have an option to withhold information absent a statutory requirement.

In regards to amending the code, citizens are advised to contact their legislative representatives as they are the ones with the authority to change state laws.

    Sincerely,
Corinne Geller | Virginia State Police | Public Relations Manager

    Hey tinygnat,

If you have time AND since you are now our official FOIA expert, how about FOIAing the Christiansburg Police Dept regarding their "package" squad call at Trejbal's house? HMMMMMM???? Sound like a good idea???? It does to me!!!! May even FOIA the ATF, FBI to see if they were consulted or notified and what the final determination of their investigations might be.

You may not get anything yet because the investigation may be ongoing, but at some point it will close. If Trejbal sent the package to himself or pulled another one of his genius stunts, of course, the RT will not print it.

I can't wait until he submits his next attack piece in the op-ed section. Let's have a contest.....

    CONTEST

What will Trejbal's next "hack lib activist" op-ed article be titled???

    Got the following blank email:

[email protected] aol.com REMOVE THIS ADDRESS FROM YOUR LIST PLEASE

I think SOMEBODY is a bit miffed.

Got another one, already deleted, saying something to the effect of, "I am a grandmother. I do not advertise."

    Weird.

    Roanoke Times Advertiser's email list

Thanks goes to Cngerms for that Advertisers email list. I've been so angry about the Times releasing the CHP list. I know they are especially *stupid* at the Times thinking how could it be that victims of domestic violence might just have a CHP for protection. How indeed? PPOs are just pieces of paper, can't protect anyone!

I've been itching to register my complaints with somebody, so it might as well be advertisers. I've send emails to Del. Cline, State Senator Creigh Deeds, and State Senator Hanger. Oh, and Creigh Deeds said that list should have not ever been made public like that.
