Was in Sportsman's Warehouse the other day when I overheard a conversation stating that the Bisley Hammer could be replaced with a Vaquero hammer so that you can cock it easier and faster. I thought, "Well, it's worth a try." I'd always hated the hammer. I always had to shift the my grip in order to cock it.

Only problem is that there is a larger gap in the back that will probably let debris in. Won't be a reliability issue though and certainly will be faster into action. Any thoughts? Has anybody else done this?

I think it would be the other way around- replacing a Vaquero trigger with a Bisley trigger so you can cock easier and faster. It is an illegal modification for CAS. (Important to me, but maybe not to you.) I can not see an advantage to putting a Vaquero trigger on a Bisley.

I'm not into Cowboy Action Shooting... I'd think the Mag-Na-Porting would also be illegal. ;) It's a Trail gun. The higher grip that I get on the Bisley grip makes the included lower hammer impossible to cock without shifting my grip. I find the higher Vaquero hammer to be quick and I can cock the gun without any shift at all. Everybody's hand is shaped differently.

So, where do I find rules for CAS? It'd be interesting to read... don't really have the time now, but give it 5 years or so.

The biggest problem I can see is that the "thumb reach" will be downright nuts. The Bisley grip is "lower" than the standard Vaq/Blackhawk XR3-RED type.

What we need is to take the standard Bisley hammer and "curl the tip back up" a bit.

The SuperBlackHawk hammer is sorta halfway between the Vaq/Blackhawk hammer and Bisley hammer in terms of "reach". Might work with the Bisley grip frame for somebody with big hands.

Are you sure about that. I don't have the guns in front of me, but the Bisley is higher than either of those? Could it be that you can curl your hand over the top of the grip? No, the web of my thumb is about a milimeter away from the cocked VAQUERO hammer right now. Are you confused or am I just doing something wrong or different?
