Hey, does anybody have some good information on Varmint Grenade bullets? I mean from the physics standpoint - a core of sintered metal? Did I read that right? I get the theory - but only to the extent of a paragraph or two in an advertizement.

I also get the catalog from www.cheaperthandirt.com where they're selling special "DRT" ammo that, according to the ad, contains heavy metal 'dust' in the core.

The theory behind both, as I understand it, is that when the bullet hits something solid enough to disrupt the structural integrity of the projectile, the superheavy 'dust' decelerating causes 100% of the kinetic energy to be dumped immediately, causing massive wounding.

Do I have that right? Anybody out there shooting the Varmint Grenade or DRT ammo? If I could beg you guys for info, I'd ask for both the anecdotal evidence from shooters as well as weblinks to something a bit more detailed than the marketing ads.:scrutiny:

Please?

Thanks for any info you're willing to share.:D

Varmint grenades do exactly that. not sure about the DRT but the varmint grenade was originally developed for the military for low ricochet applications, IMO there is nothing better for small game. not to mention its one of the most accurate bullets I have ever shot.

here is a video with a little info about the varmint grenades...
