What is the best way to "carry" in your vehicle so the pistol is easily available yet hidden from view and not on your person. In addition, my employer does not allow firearms on the premises so I need to secure the pistol in my vehicle. What do you all do to secure the pistol in your vehicle?

I mounted a black tool bag with a velcro top to the side of the driver's seat for a dedicated "car gun" holster. Holsters fit inside of it and attach to a cross piece or you can just drop the gun in.

I've also used a IWB holster or shoulder holster on some occasions but I like my tool bag holster best of all.

Regarding how to secure. There are any number of gun lock boxes available. I've seen this one before. I've never used it, however, it looks simple enough.

thanks

That's looks like it could work. Thanks for the post and link. I now have a project to do this wekend.:D

while not good for securing your handgun in your vehicle, i really like the Kingston Car Seat holster by DeSantis. it's on a belt that straps down the middle of the drivers seat, so the holster rides right between your legs on the front of the seat. when i get in the car, i discreetly transfer the gun to the seat holster, and put it back on my belt when i get out. keeps it handy when driving, and keeps it from digging in to you while you are driving.

I have two simplex lock boxes, one that is drawer opened and secured under my seat that I can reach by bending down, and another is a top opening strongbox type that is looped to the car seat behind me on the passenger floor. The piece goes into the one under the seat. I put my wallet or other valuables or a second piece in the back one. I also have an Uncle Mike's kydex paddle holster secured to my door pocket, it is okay for light pieces like my mini glock.
