I bought this bad mama jama as soon as I heard they were being imported. It took about a month to get it after I preordered it and I finally picked it up on Friday.

Let me say the shotgun is superb save for two things, the sights are not the best for a shotgun, and the stock is not configured well. I could live with the sights, but the but stock is so small and high up that the gun is barely shootable and uncomfortable to say the least. The butt of the stock needs to extend a few inches lower to be properly functional (at least to fit me) where it nestles into my shoulder, and I can still see down the sights line.

So what I am wondering is if anyone knows enough about these to verify whether one could use the standard Vepr rifle thumb-hole walnut stocks on it, or if regular AK or (RPK?) would work, or Saiga stocks, or where to get one that would work and give me lower cheek weld. Or if I should even mess with it and just put different sights or a red dot sight on it that are higher up.
Of course, here is a picture because who doesn't like those?

RDS and slip a small limbsaver or Pachmahr boot on the stock to increase it's foot print and lengthen it a bit. Short is good inside a structure on the stock BTW.

I believe RPK hand guards will fit it, but regular AK hand guards will not. As for the stock Im not sure about RPK stocks. But AK/saiga 12 stocks will not fit without some modding. The reciever on the VEPR is thicker than regular AKs/Saigas. All you have to do is remove a small bit of material from the sides so the stocks will fit in the receiver of the VEPR.

How does she shoot? I picked mine up last thursday. She had a few minor issues the first 100 rounds but 200 more and she seems to be running great.

After (with Mako stock & RJ flash hider):

Any stamped AK stock will fit it.

Plouffdaddy.

Where you able to install that stock without modding it?

Becuase from my experience and many others I have talked to not just any AK stock will fit these. I tried to put my tapco T6 stock in mine and it indeed does not fit. Others I know have had had to modify several different brands of stocks.

The recievers on the VEPR are thicker than others. I ordered the M4 style magpul stock for mine and was told I would have to take a little off to fit it. I will see when it comes, but im pretty sure this is true.

Not really worried about length, you are preaching to the choir about shorter is better in close quarters. Really all I am worried about is the height of the cheek weld in relation to the sight line. I haven't fired it, but my buddy took his out yesterday and said his functioned flawlessly through 150 rounds of buck shot, bird shot and slugs mixed. So I have high hopes and expectations. Should be out with it this weekend if not sooner.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. I am surprised there isn't more interest in this though. I didn't think it would fit anyone but a kid with short neck in its current configuration.

So did you shoot her yet?

Ya, these things havent really jumped off yet. Although there is still a huge percentage of people that have never even heard of the Saiga 12s either. But we have to start some where. I have a feeling the VEPR will grow over the years.

No modification needed. The receivers on these are not like other VEPRs in terms of thickness. Which adaptor for the Magpul stock did you order?

That is incorrect. I tried to fit the stock today and it does not fit. The VEPR 12s DO have a thicker stock than the Saigas and not all saiga stocks will fit the VEPR without mods.

Here is my VEPR.

M4 style six position tube. Magpul m4 stock.

The mounting block had to be modified by removing material from the sides, bottom, and top where the screw goes into the tang. this stock is for Saiga 12s specific and drops in with no mods. But the VEPRs have a thicker receiver as I stated so it will not drop straight into the VEPRs. I tried with a file and it was grueling and slow. So i took it to a belt sander. It wasnt as bad but it still took forever. probably 2-3 hours of sand/grinding then trying to fit. I would deff wait until VEPR specific stocks come out if I had to do it over again.

just recently received my vepr 12, i think this shotgun is worth the price.
