On Monday one of the local ranges will have a "Veterans shoot Free" day. I plan to be there, USMC 70-78, and have the following rifles available for the Vets to shoot.

M1 Garand w/300+ round in clips (Augest 1942 reciever)
AR-15 w/1000rds available
Mosin-Nagant 91/30 w/300rds available ( 1941 low wall)
#3Mk1 SMLE W/300rds available ( 1918 Lithgow)
M1 Carbine w/1000 rds available (1944 Winchester)
Type 38 Arisika W 200rds available ( 1941? w/mum)
Mauser Kar98 w/500rds available (1941 rebuilt 1944)
Mauser Turk 1936 Same ammo as above

Plan to have a good time!!

Am I going overboard?;)
Am I bringing enough ammo?:)
Am I crazy?:D

This is my 3rd year doing this, any donations will be given to the local VFW. They are supplying some helpers.
We have had a lot of families come in and the Vets will tell war stories and how they lived in the military. I have a complete set of packs and belts for most of the weapons for displays.

Worked hard and played hard at Kunsan. :D

USAF Security Police 1982 - 1990. Don't fret about assignments. We all went to where we were ordered.

Great idea "oneshooter" from this VFW Life Member.

Oneshooter,

Nice of the range, and very nice of you. Hope it's comfortably crowded with vets on Monday.

Great idea. From a veteran, thanks to all those who go out of their way to make life a little easier on your veterans. You are the real reason that America is still the greatest country on Earth.

I would make the trip and would love it. What "one" is doing is both unselfish and damned nice.
Everyone knows what we will see at heavens gates. I dare say that "one" will be there.
USAF security cop 72-78 and proud of it.

I have to work the hospital routine also, USAF A90170 67-79, USPHS 83-95. Otherwise I'd be on the range burning powder and not gasoline.

I do not recognize that AFSC or whatever they call it now. You can tell by my screen name what I did, AFSC 9246.

Sorry for the delayed response. Was at a friends place with 20 or so like minded people, shooting our version of "rattle battle". 10" steel plates at 200yds. as issue sights, fastest to put down 10 plates wins. Stand up and shoot like a Human, no coats, gloves, or eyepieces, sling only, there is one required reload from the belt.
4 classes, semi-auto, bolt, single shot, front stuffer.
FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

280PLUS, I wish I could fly ALL of you here! Play some games (see above) eat some TEXAS BBQ, and swap lies!:D

Oneshooter, sounds like a great way to spend the day. No you aren't crazy, no you aren't bringing enough ammo :D.

Have a great Memorial Day for those of us stuck doing the working thing (not a hospital for me, though - I'm just making drinking water out of river water...).
