Victorinox new fixed blade line

They've come out with a $75+ fixed blade line they've dubbed the Venture Collection. I haven't handled one yet, but I don't see how this successfully competes with Moras unless it is going up against the Garberg. I do see that it competes with Vic's more expensive Outdoor Master.

I have a Garberg and like it. But would certainly consider one of these at about the same price. I like the flat grind better on this vs the scandi grind on the Garberg. At least for how I actually use a knife.
 
Seems like a good knife for the money, and I'm a 14c28n fan, but I will wait for user reports. I can see a Felix Immler signature model somewhere up ahead--he seemed quite proud of his role in the design.

This is so true, and in more ways than one. Several years ago, I was on a ridge the slope of a mountain on the other side of a creek valley below me. Miiiiiiiiiles away, I saw a blue tarp pop out of the vegetation. That made me break out the spotting scope. There was a whole camp with 4 wheelers and everything over there. I likely would have missed it, if not for the tarp. Additionally, ungulates (deer family) see blue like a bright neon sign. Explain to me again how guys shoot deer every year while wearing blue jeans.
 
Well. I like it. But I'm a Victorinox fanboy. Unashamedly so. This knife is about 3/4 oz heavier than my main EDC. (SAK One-Handed Trekker) Indeed, the Venture needs serrations on it like my Trekker. I have no need for a bush crafting knife, because i don't do bush crafting, but there is probably room in my hunt pack for a good 4" blade on a full tang. I wonder how well it cuts through tissue and muscle on a caribou.



I was on the cusp of buying my first Mora, but I may well buy one of these instead. Although, I was kind of looking for a disposable, throw-away, stainless knife for fishing, and that's kind of how I see the Mora-largely due its price. I wouldn't consider any SAK as disposable.
 
Looks like a good knife, but I'll to stick to my Mora Garberg and my favorite the terava jaakaripuukko, both great knives at the price point with the terava just edging out the garbing with a slightly thicker spine.

Just because deer can see blue easier than other colors doesn't mean they are afraid of it. They see humans year round wearing blue and they pose no threat. I've often joked that the best "camo" to wear if hunting in farm country is blue jeans, a plaid shirt and a John Deere cap. Dress like the farmer the deer see every day and they ignore you.

You may be in for a surprise if you’ve never owned a Mora. They present value well above their price, they may be cheap, but certainly not considered a disposable knife by their users.

I’m still using a Mora fishing knife I bought in Sweden 50 years ago, never a drop of rust dispute being on a boat for years in the Hudson, a brackish river.

...and I so dislike the Victorinox website. All show and no detail. What is blade length, what steel? Full disclosure, I do have and like several SAK slipjoints.
