Claymore, I hear you.
I was testing this for a Wheelguns column in Combat Handguns magazine, and I have to say I was surprised by how smooth the action was compared to Charter Arms of my youth.
Personally I carry a 1911 every day of my life. In fact I was wearing one while shooting the SASS gun in the video. But, if I was unarmed and someone handed me a Charter Arms before going into town, I wouldn't have a moment's hesitation in taking it.
These guns should be shot enough to maintain competency and that's all, but that's the case with the tiny Ruger revolvers and autos or Kel tech, or even Rohrbaughs at a zillion dollars each.
Karl Rohrbaugh once told me that you only carry one of these little guns to defend your life. If you want to practice, get your 1911.
I think the Charter Arms will stand up to the use it is likely to see. I put several hundred rounds through this one without a hiccup.
