I was being sarcastic. It is a dyslexic version of an abbreviation for Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (now Explosives).

A scene from that CBS TV show "SWAT" unintentionally showed the real difference between a s Side-fire stock and a real machine gun although they lied (surprise!) and used a real hollywood machine gun instead of the "bump-stock" for the robbery scene where the criminal fires a one-handed burst into the air to announce "this is a robbery" after they tediously detailed the criminal procuring the Silde-fire stock equipped illegal gun -- obviously not possible because of Caifornication's progressive gun control! but its fiction, not propaganda, right?

Its really simple -- a machine gun fired one handed can empty the magazine, a bump-fire stock will fire exactly one shot!

I'm considering making a youtube video firing my Thompson SMG one handed and then my 9mm AR SBR with a bump-fire stock to show that the bump-fire stock is most definitely not a machine gun!

Oh how I wish this were true, unfortunately legal definitions of words can be changed to be more broad, and apparently it can be done without further legislation. That is my take on what is happening with the pending bump stock change as proposed by the ATF, and if you can change definitions of words what can’t you do?...... FWIW my take could easily be incorrect, Frank could likely explain how these things unfold.


On topic: I saw that video a couple months ago and I have to my first thought was “I just wonder if he’d be allowed to say that if he wasn’t retired.” My second thought was “I can’t believe a foremen ATF agent is making more sense than the NRA!”

I’ll also say I hope he’s right, when they ban the bump stock I certainly hope someone comes up with yet another workaround.

I remember (see vid link below) he actually ran that section or wing-division of the BATFE for a while.Nice to see someone at a mid to higher level of authority within the Dept is NOT anti-you shooting. Quite the opposite. Just wants people to follow the law
