Pretty sure the studded one is handmade,
But the tooled holster looks like it might have been a catalogued item.
No maker ID or markings, anybody recognize it or have a likely time frame of production? Thank you

The right one Appears to be a Tom Three Persons design. SD Myers, El Paso Saddlery. Was a very popular design.

No idea although I don't find the tooling to be impressive at all. Most likely a home made one too.

It's been a long time since I looked but the pattern reminds me of one that was in a book of old time western holsters that Tandy sold and may still do. Can't remember the name of the guy that wrote the book either.

But does the brass pass through the leather and scratch up the gun?
I don't have it in hand yet but just from looking at it I'd imagine the maker didn't put that much thought into it. I'd planned to use it in a shadow box display, its got that look

Al Stholman wrote the Tandy book. I was just in it for a 1911 pattern for a holster I just finished today. That pattern isn't one of Al's. I've never seen anything like it before. Looks like it was just cut with a swivel knife and no actual tools was done.

The tooled holster is a puzzle. The tooling is not very good and the shape doesn't follow the shape of the pouch but the laced edging is definitely professional, as is the rest of it.

Tacks and spots can be done so as to not scratch the gun.

Update, the brass studded one fits a 4" K frame pretty well, and the studs do pass through the leather. Even though they are pretty peened down on the back, I wouldn't use it for anything that wasn't already beat to heck. Definitely homemade but its quaint.

The fleece lined holster fits a 5 1/2" SAA but very snugly, so I'm guessing it's for a single six or something of that size. Closer examination reveals no makers mark, but its solid and definitely old.

Anybody know how I can clean the fleece lining without ruining the leather?

Tandy has a pattern book by Will Gormly of old western holster tooling patterns and it has one like the tooled holster. I have never seen anything by Stholman that resembled it.
