I have recently become the owner of a german 22LR single shot rifle identified by the markings as a Voere. Very light, nice wood in overall great condition. However, the rifle is missing the front sight. I have been told that this was a 2 piece sight but can't validate that. Problem, I can't find Voere distributor, dealer, web site info, Numrich or very much evidence that this rifle actually exists. Can someone advise if this rifle was commercially imported and how do you contact voere without going to Germany. Thanks guys.

In 1987, this company was purchased by Mauser-Werke. Voere actions are used in rifles made and sold by KDF Inc. of Seguin, Texas. Hope that helps

There is a discussion about these rifles on a local forum

The question being asked (in case you don't read Finnish) is why are these rifles so inexpensive second-hand. The most useful reply there states that Voere (Germany) haven't made .22 rifles for years, and spares are hard to get hold of - I guess you knew that already ;)

Confusingly, there is an Austrian firm with the same name that makes hunting rifles but isn't assosciated with the German firm, according to the "Blue Book":

Edited to add:

I found this picture on the net of one for sale - maybe it's similar to yours, and will give you an idea what the front sight was like?

I greatly appreciate the information, especially the picture. It would appear that the little rifle has no great collector/$ value. I think I may be able to fit a Marlin, savage type sight. The only thing I was concerned about was having to file off a small ridge down the middle of the sight plane. Now that I know I am not destroying anything valuable, Gonna try it. Many thanks for the help.

Contact voere

HI:
I as well as many others have seen the sad life of finding parts. First decide if your gun is German or Austrian. I wrote to them at WWW.VOERE.AU and they have many parts for sale they will need the serial number of your gun to help and it also must be made in Austria.
I have two of the Model 2005 open bolt guns and was lucky to get 14 high cap mags(15RDS.) They are a bear to find and sell for as much as a hundred bucks I have been told. Just contact them and I sure hope they can help you!

Good luck,
:D

P.S. Voere Firearms are of the very Finest quality guns in the world,They use the Old world Standards to build quality rifles! Most folks who own them usually want to hold on to them.

Bought an open bolt semi-auto .22 rifle from KDF in the 1980s. Begause of the bolt lunging forward accuracy was bad, so I sold it. Have never seen, or heard of another. Anyone know what I had?

I think your voere was a mod. 2005

Ok I am sure this was an Voere Mod.2005 open bolt gun. Sorry to here you sold it because today one in very good shape can sell for around $650.00 and on up in price!
Mine are converted by SWD in Atlanta on a form 4 transfer as a machine gun. They are great buss guns I have two and just love them. I do not know for sure. But have been told that the ATF stopped letting KDF import them in to the USA. I was told that only about 1500 ever made it in the country here in America.
Thanks,

I have one of the single shot German voere rifles...The front site is one piece and slides on from the muzzel end...they can come off when removing the gun from a gun case or if it gets bumped forward when hunting...this along with higher grade voere 22s useing the same front site this leaves a lot of the single shots without front sites.......

I also have a Austrian made Voere bolt action model 2165 in 30:06 imported by JaegerSports in the late 80s or early 90s. I put a swarovski 3x9 on it...it makes for a fine shooting and looking hunting rig that all the guys in hunting camp want to take a look at....

Voere front sight

I do have a front sight for your rifle. It is a plastic arrangement.

Voere 2165

I am looking at purchasing a Voere Kufstein- Austrian Made Rifle in 30-06 calibre, model 2165. I was wondering if anyone could please give me a detailed report on this gun if they happen to own one. I would like to know what they think of the accuracy/quality.
It has the mauser style action and the bolt is blued? not sure if the bolt was this way from the factory it appears to be. The rifle was built in 1985 and it has seen very little use I would say 90% or better.

It appears to be solid and well made , but I cannot find much information on this rifle anywhere, I see a few on the net for sale and read the information on the Voere site. I really hope someone can give a report based on use/ownership that will help me make my decision.

If the Voere rifle says Benteler on it, I'd like to buy it if it is not expensive. I work for Benteler, a German company that supplier automotive parts. They are anti-gun and I would love to show them that their company actually made rifles.

no Benteler

nothing on it stating benteler

as mentioned its a voere kufstein model 2165 made in austria.
