Am looking to get rangefinder. Have narrowed it down to leupold 1000i tbr DNA and vortex ranger 1000. Has anyone compared the two. What's your thoughts.

I'd say Bushnell would be as low as I'd go, personally. But I may occasionally engage MOA targets at > 1,000 yards. Hopefully soon.

Leica are decent but don't range as well as they're rated. At least not easily. Swarovski does really good. I've heard Zeiss does as well. Bushnell optics aren't as pretty, but they work. Talked to Vortex at their booth at SHOT and as far as I can remember they don't have anything that'll range 1,000 yards vs a non-reflective target.

Can't tell you anything about Leupold. I've been to their booth at 3 SHOT shows, and to date nobody has been willing to show me their line. I've given up, though my MK IV spotting scope is quite nice.

One of the guys I prairie dog hunted with last year had a Leupold range finder he spoke highly of. Not sure of the model. I didn't use it myself.

Admittedly, he's a borderline fanboy, but I've never seen him steer anyone wrong on gear.
