Regarding the nomination of Ben Avery Shooting Facility as a "Phoenix Point of Pride."

The range complex, (formerly known as the Black Canyon Shooting Range)is a national treasure. It is to the shooting sports what Yankee Stadium is to baseball. But it faces grave danger from encroaching development. There are now houses just across the freeway to the east and developers are jockeying for the prime commercial space at the intersection of Carefree Highway and I-17.

This "Point of Pride" poll is run by The Arizona Republic, a Gannett paper that is often less than friendly to gun rights. It's nice to see the shooting sports get some positive press. Ben Avery is a world-class facility. Let's see that it gets world-wide support.

I don't think it is too odd that they allow non-residents to vote. One of the points is that these places bring a sense of pride to Arizona ... in a national sense.

Ben Avery hosts national shooting matches and people come from around the country and the world to use the facility, be it pistol, rifle, shotgun, archery. The place is huge.

Vote. It'll make the antis and their PC artsie friends angry just to get Ben Avery in the top three. Heck, they're annoyed that it made the top ten. ;)

Done.

I wasn't going to vote because of the address thing. However Rick's comment made me do it. Now I just need to remember that I went there with a friend the last time I was in Flagsta ... er .. Phoenix :D .
