Do not try and feed a cartridge dierectly in the chamber.

You end up with the cartridge stuck.. and a bolt that will not close...

Guess how I know this.

Yep, controlled round feeding.
Mine will chamber that way, but I also think that there is something wrong with my extractor.

Been there, done that.

And maybe i'm just so lucky, but the safety might come stuck in the off stead. Fortunately, a specialist gunsmith installed me a new one at little cost.

Just sold a vz24 Brno in 30-06 which had the edge of the extractor slightly radiused, pushing in firmly on middle of the extractor would allow it to slip over the head.
