To make this more clear, if using reloads for self defense loadings, the Prosecutor for your JH Trial will try to convince the jury that you made the custom DIY ammo to ensure the death of person you shot.

The key here is Stopping Power, stopping your attacker from killing you or doing grave injuries.

So, how many times has this actually happened in trial?

I have nor clue... However I don't to be the very first poor bastard who is convicted for murder due to the fact he reload his own defensive ammo...

If that is the only reason you get convicted, you need to spend money for a better lawyer.

The ol' guys here will remember a time, many decades ago, when we loaded hollow-base wadcutters backwards as the perfect self-defense 38 round....

Heck, I still use HBWC's cast from softer lead alloy loaded backwards. They expand on critters nicely. There is no magic bullet, you still have to put it where it will do the most good. But a soft lead bullet that expands over twice it's original size makes a nice bleedy hole.
