Waiting Time for Suppressor Approval?

I submitted a Form 4 Trust to the ATF on September 25 for an 6.5 mm Energetic Lux suppressor. My local gun shop said they have no idea how long it will take for approval because sometimes its as short as a day while others take months. Why do times vary so much?

FBI NICS checks the buyers name and descriptive information. If the check results in multiple records being returned and one is a prohibited person, then an FBI Document Examiner will review to see if the descriptive information is the same. The search might return similar spellings, so a search for "John Jay Johnson" might have records return for Jon Jay Johnson, Jhon J. Johnson or John Jay Johnsen or any other close spelling. Having the same or similar name to that of a prohibited person will almost always result in a delay.
The search may show there is incomplete information from a state or local agency. If you were every charged with a crime, charges dropped or not convicted......but the court failed to record and report the disposition of that case, it will slow down the background check.

During Covid, NFA Examiners worked from home. They would take a stack of forms home, run the checks and reviews then email approvals. I've had a number approved on Sundays and holidays.

I have had 4 form 4 (suppressor) approvals and 3 form 1 (sbr) approvals over the last 4 months.
All of the above were individual, eform, submitted through SilencerShop.
The first 3 form 4s were approved in under 5 days each, (2, 3, and 5)
The last form 4, submitted mid August, took 5 weeks.
The 3 form 1 approvals were all approved within a week.
I have 1 form 1 I just submitted 2 days ago so will see how long it takes.

Recently filed for 4 cans with trusts. Approved in 4 weeks.
