Walmart rifle closeouts

I took a chance checked back in today. All but one of the rifles on hold was gone. I decided to ask and turns out they still had 2 left in the back that someone didn't want. He brought them up. I took the woodstock in 30-06 with a scope for $184. It was an ordeal though, about 2 hours total, had to wait the managers to get out of their meeting. All the paperwork and waiting for a manager to come back twice for his part. Was hoping to take it home today since I had my CWP but nope, Wal-Mart policy still have to wait 3 days. They still had a .243 there but passed on buying both.

Gun counter guy was nice and said he was a gun guy. He knew all the steps that we had to go thru so that made it easier. Guess I'll be picking it up Friday after work

View attachment 934931 Despite my rant yesterday went back today and got a Remington ADL in .223 for $199.00 , get it this weekend hopefully after all the hoops Walmart makes you go through. Figure since I'm not a hunter that caliber will serve best at the range as a clay buster. The caliber .223 is cheap to shoot after the panic slows down, they had Savage .243 but at .75 cents a round I wouldn't shoot it much.

But hey a 700 ADL for $199 even though I'm a left shooter just wish they had a Henry lever action still

Just a heads up, Savage is running a $50 rebate for any Savage Axis/Axis II or Trophy Hunter rifle (limit of 5 per household) from 6 Aug through 15 Sep. I bought 4 of the $184 Savage Axis (.223, .243, .308, .30-06) rifles from Wally World on 6 Aug to take advantage of the rebate offer.

After learning about the rebate on the Savage Axis, went back to Walmart yesterday and picked up a wood stocked .308 version with scope for $184 to go with the 700 ADL I picked up on Saturday. I've already submitted my rebate request online.

Now my gun fund is somewhat depleted for the time being. :)

But I did get a couple of decent rifles at a really good price point. Thanks for the heads up!

P.S.:You are all a bunch of enablers.....:neener:

YES YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF ENABLERS!!!
I BOUGHT THE AXIS XP 243, I WANT TO GO BACK AND BUY ANOTHER RIFLE AT THESE BARGAINS. I'M LEFT HANDED AND WOULD PREFER A LEFTY BUT AT THESE PRICES?????

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HIGH ROAD!
SAFE SHOOTING

The fun part about clearances at Walmart is if by chance they don't sell within 30 or 45 days, they will be marked down further. I really don't need them however might check back around September 1st to see if any are still floating around for another 1/3 or 1/2 off the price.

The fact that you can get a bolt action rifle in .223 there but they won't sell ammo anymore because it also fits in a semi auto rifle like a AR is really stupid. But the fact that I got a Remington 700 at cost or below their cost well hey whatever.

Impulse buy, since they allowed me to add another to the existing background check a paper work , I didn't have a .22 magnum rifle and they had a Marlin for $197.00 I added it to the sale, get both on Friday after their 3 day wait period.

I am sorely disappointed in 199 Savage Axis. I cleaned it, mounted and bore sighted a scope and took it to the range. After some adjusting I got it to shoot in a 4 inch diamond. I did get 3 shoots within an inch of each other. I switched to Federal ammo and got a 3 1/2 inch group/. That's pretty bad. I was hoping for much better. maybe it will settle in or maybe my new scope cheap on sale is bad. it's a 30-06 and I was HMR 165 gr, and switched to Federal Fusion 165 grain.

If it's a plastic stocked model be very careful and consistent where you bag or support the front of the stock. Before I added supports to my 223 stock I could go from moa groups to 3" groups just by moving the bags around.

They already went down. The 700 dropped to $79 yesterday, I just missed getting one in .223 by an hour. I did get a Axis in 6.5 Creedmore for $54. Well, I get it tomorrow as long as nothing goes wrong. My background check was put on hold, but I got the call later in the day that I was cleared.

Yeah Axis with wood stocks are down to $74. Synthetic Axis are down to $49. That's before the $50 rebate so you're basically looking at around $5 and $30 per rifle, respectively after tax and rebate. 700's in .223 are down to $79 and in other cals are $99. At least at MOST Walmarts. I've noticed a few where they haven't dipped below the original $124 price on the regular Axises.

I bought 3 Axis's in .243 last night. Not sure what the hell I need 3 .243's for, but I couldn't pass them up for the price :). I'll make a run to a different Wal-mart after work.

Maybe the Axis I got was $49. I thought that was the price of the 770's but looking now it seems they're at $54. Anyway. all the Walmart's are pretty much sold out of the closeout guns around me. I found just that one yesterday after hitting a few stores, and all they had left besides the Axis I bought was two Rem 770's and a guy showed up to buy both of those while I was there. A buddy of mine had to hit up a few stores over the weekend to find a Rem 700 in .223 while they were still at $200.

Yeah it's just a game of hitting the stores and seeing what you can find. And being courteously insistent that they check the stock in the back because unlike most things there truly as an "in the back" for the guns where not all of them are out on the floor.

Probably has to do with my mom dragging me around to stand in line for beanie babies back in the day, but I find the whole deal-seeking process pretty fun :).

Will Wal-Mart adjust the price since im still waiting to pick it up?

If that store has marked them down then they should - the rifles aren't rung up until you pay. That said not all of the stores have marked them down again (yet). I've noticed 2 of the stores in the more affluent areas here still have all their guns at last week's closeout prices rather than the new markdown that seems to have hit yesterday.

I called the store where I had been getting my rifles - they marked down yesterday and are now sold out. Someone bought all 11 clearanced rifles in one transaction. Cannot say I blame him/her. Heck they sold for less than other dealers can buy wholesale.

I wish Walmart would not sell to obvious resellers :(.

I have a clearance Remington 700 in 7mm RM on hold. Since Walmart will not use my CCL I wind up on hold every time. Such a PITA.

I'm on vacation and checked the store in Gordonsville VA. They have some of the closeouts, but won't have a manager there until Sunday that can go through the sale process. The COVID crisis has impacted their registration process of managers with the state of VA. I will be back in SC on Friday.

Funny thing is if they weren't being clearanced off dirt cheap I'm pretty sure none of us would have gone out to buy them. Nothing more than moving out old stock folks weren't clamoring to buy otherwise. Course we all hate missing a deal, but they have new models coming in so there's plenty to be had at regular prices. I can fairly well predict Academy, Cabelas, and BassPro will have the new models on sale for fall hunting season in come Labor Day weekend. It won't be $50, but still with rebates you can likely get one for 2 bills or less.
