Hello everyone, I was just wondering what ammo you G22 owners were using to feed your rifle? I'm picking mine up tomorrow and wanted to get some opinions. Thanks!

I don't have one personally, although I'm considering purchasing one, but I do hear that Walther recommends High Velocity ammunition for the G22. Your best bet is to buy a couple different brands and try them out. .22's are known for being finicky about brand of ammo. I've also heard that CCI Mini Mags are some pretty good rounds.

Ammo for the P22s.

I have two P22s and I use whatever I have on the shelf. They shot most anything you put in them.
My favorite 22 round is the Remington Target 22, standare volocity. It shoots great in the P22s. But..... it is expensive compared to the average 22 round.
I use the P22s in teaching Women's handgun classes, this is the first firearm that they fire and they all love them. In fact I have problems moving them up to the 38s and 9mm. Ha.

I have shot just about every .22lr ammo out there. I found that mine likes Federal Premiums bulk pack, CCI Stingers, Velocitors, and Aguila's hyper velocity ( can't remember the name). When I go shoot, I bring about 4-5 packs of CCI Stingers and a box or two of federals and I am good for the day. Out of a full 550 rd box of federal premiums, I usually have about 20 or so stove pipes and maybe one or two FTFs. No problems at all with the stingers, they cycle the action really well, and they are cleaner.
Ones I'd avoid are Golden Bullets from remington, really dirty, even on your fingers, Thunderturds (thunderbolts), CCI Mini Mags (the round is too bulbous to feed without hanging up in the throat), Federal Champions (they lead foul and are extremely dirty, almost every round burns you with gas).
I found that I lose accuracy after about 300-400 rounds, at that point I run the bore snake through the barrel. I clean the action once I get home every time I shoot it. Hope this helps.

Right on, thanks guys, I'm going to hit up Wal-Mart and try to score some of the Federal Bulk packs.

Just make sure you buy the copper washed stuff. I'd buy about 2-3 boxes of CCI stingers, they cycle really well, they are pretty clean, accurate, better range, and they are only $4.88 a box at my local Wallyworld. I'd buy a boresnake if you don't already have one, run it through the barrel after about 500-700 rounds and continue shooting.

Mine was failing to feed (with all ammo) so I sent it in for warranty repair @ S&W. Their repair notice said they fixed it and test fired with CCI Standard Velocity. I now use CCI Standard Velocity just because that is what they used for whatever reason. I have also used CCI Stingers, Velocitors & MiniMags and all work 100%.
