Walther M1 SD 9mm vs CZ P-07 Duty .40SW

trying to decide what pistol to purchase. I'd like your opinions on them, any of you own either one? These are my pros and cons of each, now mind you I can't actually hold either of them because its an online dealer and for some strange reason my lgs don't seem to have CZs and I can't find a m1 sd. Some other info I dislike heavy triggers and polymer guns , but I'm going for a ccw pistol. sorry about the pro/con chart didn't turn out as I wished.

Walther vs CZ

pros

grip is larger/ double action
threaded barrel/ accessory rail
accessory rail/ can switch from decocker
9mm is cheap/ to a safety.
firearm is cheaper/

cons

double action only/ never shot .40 s&w
grip is shaped kinda weird/

For me, there would need to be some very compelling reason to buy either, especially the Walther, when there are so many more common guns in the same general category. If you are looking for something different, and you already have another concealed carry gun, I say go ahead and pick either. However, if this is your first concealed carry gun, I'd think you be better off with a more common pistol.

Since these are for concealed carry, you should think about what holster you may want to use. The P-07 has been around for a little while, and High Noon does a pretty good job of covering most of the CZ pistols as soon as they come out, but you may have some trouble finding holsters for that Walther. Neither gun will offer the holster variety that are available for Glocks, M&P's, Springfield XD's, SIGs, etc.
 
The P-07 is a great pistol, but I have to ask - will you be wearing a garment underneath the covering garment, like a t-shirt? The checkering on the P-07 is "aggressive", as it's meant to stay in your hand under recoil even if soaked in oil in a freezing rain. High Noon does make excellent holsters for the P-07, like the Slide Guard pictured below, great holster!

I know nothing about the Walther - last Walther I owned was a post war P-38.:what: The CZ is a great buy, I can tell you that, accurate and reliable.

I'll probably wear a wife beater beneath my shirt. I'm willing to be slightly uncomfortable in the heat to have peace of mind.
 
OK, as I have carried the P-07 concealed, and that checkering is a wee bit rough, or maybe I'm just too sensitive. :D The new version of the P-07 also incorporates elements of the P-09, kind of upgraded a wee bit.
 
Why not a CZ 75b? That's what I conceal everyday and being steel it's thin and easy to carry and 9mm.

I've put a couple upgrades in mine but there pretty good from the factory but with the parts from CGW and CZC you can really customize the gun to your liking.

how much does one of those run for? I think its beautiful but if its outside the price range it doesn't become an option no matter how amazing it is :/
 
With good quality defensive loads, I'd stay 9mm - the difference in actual street results isn't enough to warrant giving up 4 rounds, to me, at least. That's just me. If the bigger 40 caliber round makes you feel better, go for it. The top notch defensive ammo in either caliber will do the job.
 
The only .40cal bullet I would rock would be the 10mm or 40 super which looks like a beast but the difference in 9mm vs 40 won't probably be noticeable so whatever floats your boat.

the .40 super looks pretty cool . the 9mm handgun is more expensive but has an extended barrel.
 
I hear that cz had some problems with the 40 cal p07's at first but now im sure it's not an issue. sorry I don't remember what the problems were. just preference on 9 vs. 40. I have both and trust both. watch the nutnfancy video on youtube on the p07

I got a P07 in 40 because I already had two 9's at the time. If I had to do it all over again I think the 9 would be a better choice. I simply love the gun, but the 40 ammo costs more and the recoil impulse is far snappier. Remember that the "standard" 40 load is what they call "+P" in 9mm, so recoil-wise, it's on up there. On the other hand, 9mm ammo covers a wider load range, from powder puff to SD.

9 just has a lot more going for it when you consider the big picture of plinking, practice and SD which a private does. If I was a LEO and needed a duty caliber only, then 40 starts to have a lot of merit.

PS. I'm on my 4th CZ now, none of which I paid over $500 for. They are really fabulous.

cz handguns always appealed to me my first was the cz82 but then i foolishly sold it.
 
I just purchased a a CZ Omega, which has the same "recurve" trigger as the P07. Honestly, I hate the shape of the trigger enough to get rid of the gun. Check one out in person before buying.
 
FWIW, I have VZ grips on my CZ which are cheese graters. I slip a folded bandana between the gun and my body to avoid wearing an extra shirt. I used to wear a tank top under my t-shirt, but it looked like I had a sports bra on or something which made me think it looked weird.

That sounds like a really good idea. Does anybody know the approximate cost of getting a ccp in Florida?
 
The early versions of the p-07 had some frame bulge issues that impacted magazine drop I believe. The newer ones have been corrected. Check the cz forums for the serial numbers if you are buying used.

Wouldn't it be easier to get better grips for carrying>?
