Walther P22 Rail question

My P22 from a few years ago had a Walther-only sized rail on it. It was narrower than 'normal'. I sold it a while back.

Yesterday, I'm looking at a new 2015 P22 and the rail looked to be full sized. I compared it to the rail on a 9mm HK and visually they lookd to be the same.

Did walther upsize the rail?

Walther has modernized their P22 slightly over the last few years. The rail has become more standardized for accessories. I also noticed they used some of the grip styling of the PPQ on the newer P22s. I am glad they got rid of the lawyer lock on the right side of the frame as well.
