I'm thinking seriously of sending my Kimber to Tripp Research for a hardchrome finish. Their website is lacking good photos of the finished product, I'd like to see more of what the finish looks like before I commit.
    Anybody got one?

I had this done to my slide, and the result is great. The finish and workmanship are both excellent. Virgil Tripp does a great job.

I've seen a couple guns in the shop just back from Tripp and they have all looked perfectly done. I have a mut that if I ever get everything ironed out so that I'm happy with it, I'll have it Tripped.

I'll try to find some pics of Tripp treated guns.

None of these are my guns... thanks to the respective owners and photographers.

    OK, I'm convinced!
    Now...
wonder what it would look like if I had the whole gun done in chrome and the slide release, safety lever and grip safety done in the black Cobra coat then put on a pair of black engraved Alumnagrips??

Good! Tell Virgil he owes me $10. :p

On the 2-tone idea... hrmm... I think it would look like a 2-tone Charles Daly special.

Personally, I like either all one color or the slide one finish and the frame and small parts another finish. But that's just me.

Those are all nice, but here's one that's carried everyday. Its been in and out of leather,(and soaked in sweat) and kydex(pretty much dry). The black streaks on the slide and frame are actually "polished" mirror bright from holster wear. Theres a little surface rust(yes hard chrome can rust) just under the safety, which did come off. This finish is about 8-10 years old, and the gun is carried pretty much every day. As nasty as it looks compared to the others here, I'd get another done in a heartbeat and wont have a carry gun that isnt.

Had this one done by Tripp Research. They got it back to my gunsmith in a week, and that was over Christmas. They do an outstanding job, much better than my poor photography skills can illustrate.

I carry my P7 everyday. It has some pits underneath the grips.

    Incursion...

Just when I decide I've got about enough pistols, you post a picture of that stunning P7. It's usually Ken Lunde who lights the fire of "Gotta, just GOTTA have one"! :) I think I prefer the "heal clip" rather than the "push button" magazine release. Is there a single stack P7 variant with a heal clip?
    (Sorry to hi-jack the thread.)

KR, yes there are two versions of the P7 with a heal release. One extends a little downward and the other is flush. The flush one is a lot rarer.

Yeah, I've been resisting a P7 for several years but incursion and lunde make it more difficult every time they post those pictures.

Here is a poor shot of a AP&W Para, full hard chrome. Looks a lot better in person.
