OK, I was reading one of those SureFire mags and noticed an ad from the good folks at Strider. It says,

I took the time to visit the Strider facility when I was at Camp Pendelton. The good folks at Strider were accommodating and overall nice folks. Needless to say, I bought a number of Strider knives for personal use and I'm quite impressed by its quality, rock hard solid No-bs knives.

I don't know of any knife manufacturer who discourages people from buying their knives?

    :)

just an advert to portray their knives as more "serious".

Even if I told my local Strider distributor that I wanted to use the blade to open letter, he would have sold it to me.....for hard $$$ of course.
