I couldn't make the event in Western Washington earlier in the month but would love to send out an open invite to sight in the hunting rifles, maybe shoot some grouse, and have an all around great weekend.

The weekend I am talking about is September 10th and 11th. The location will be about 19 miles West South West of Ellensburg up Manastash road. It is about 2:15 from Seattle and 3hr from Spokane. I will be up there all weekend, Friday after the end of the WSU Reno football game on ESPN.

If you are interested let me know and I will give more details.

Hmm ... bad Saturday for this guy ... the 10th is the day of Notre Dame - Michigan game ... I'm not an Irish fan, and it's payback time ... Sunday may work, but I won't know for at least another week or so ...

No worries gents, I own some dirt up there and will be there all weekend. I will get there late Friday night and leave around 4pm on Sunday. A lot of ground to cover, pre season Elk scouting, a little grouse etc... plenty to do.

Sounds good. Let me see if I can bargain a day away from my 8 mo. old daughter. Not much of a bargain really since she's so darn much fun...

I new to WA, but I'd like to check out a rally, if that's possible. I live in the TriCities area and will be back from travel by that time.

Here are a few more details, I noticed there were a number of viewers but a few posts.

It is six miles off the pavement to my property. I suggest a high clearance rig (does not need to be 4wd). There are some ruts and dips in the road that could cause damage to a car. Outbacks and Allroad's have made it up without a problem, I drive a stock Suburban.

In the event you decide to come and spend the night you will need a tent and appropriate sleeping gear. It is at 3,500ft so it does cool down at night but it is still pretty hot during the day primarily south slope. There is no power or water, there is an outhouse, and I have all the cooking gear (pots, pans, paper plates, silverware, bbq, butane, etc...).

It is an easy in and out in a day scenerio if you wish. I leave my place in Seattle at 7am and am there by 9 and leave around 4 and am home by 6 and it is a full day sandwiched between a two hour drive.

What I suggest you bring:
Tent, pillow, sleeping bag, air mattress, flashlight, guns, ammo, water, beer. Once we get a better headcount we can decide on food.

That cuts me out then. I have everything but the offroader. My car wouldn't cut it on anything but the flattest, driest roads.

Grim makes a good point. There is a snow park (obviously not in use) about 3 1/2 miles from the property that any car could get into. It is basically the last 3/4 of a mile of road that is not the best. If we set it up we can shuttle back and forth to the snow park. This will take some good communication prior to the weekend since cell service is iffy.

Bummer

I start 12 hour shifts Tuesday the 6th, and won't get off them for at least 2 weeks. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, as it's the overtime that lets me go shooting and hunting.

So...how far is your land from Lake Wenas? That's where we used to camp for hunting season.

I got my first(and only :( ) elk out of Black Canyon on Wenas Mountain...I really love the area over there and you are a lucky guy for owning a chunk of it.

Thanks for the kind words, Priv8ter. I am about 16 miles as the crow flys to Lake Wenas. I'm West North West. We just bought last year so I am still finding my way around. I would love to get a spike this year. Hopefully some of you guys can make it up sooner or later.

Today is the day, sorry that the weekend doesn't work out for most of you. It would be great to get together and meet a few of you guys. Maybe next time. Also if anyone has feedback on reasons on when and how to get together maybe it would work that way.

Regards,

I would like to be able to get together sometime. I’ve been able to slowly meet and shoot with some different people from other forums.
Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club is hosting the Courage Classic this weekend and some ARFCOM guys put together and entered a team. My son is on the team, so I’ll be out there in the rain. :D
As far out I’ve been is up FS5510 a couple months ago. I usually do Paul Bunyan because it’s close. Do need to get out every once and a while and run a couple full mags just make sure they still work. :neener:
