Wasp Spray Does NOT Work For Self Defense.

I’ve actually heard oven cleaner recommended rather than insect spray. Mose oven cleaners are loaded with (or at least they used to be) lye and would be extremely damaging to eyes. I doubt they make an oven cleaner that fires out a huge stream like wasp spray so I assume you would need to be in grappling distance before oven spray had any chance of hitting the eyes.

Having stupidly not been wearing safety glasses while cleaning a carburetor, I can tell you firsthand that carb cleaner will make your eyes burn and close involuntarily.

Plus, it is against federal law/regulations to use insecticides and pesticides for any purposes than those specified on the container. Could carrying wasp spray to use in self defense situations be intent to commit a federal violation? And could recommending the use of wasp spray be considered part of a conspiracy?

It is against the law to shoot people as well. You think carrying a gun could be construed as intent to commit a violation?

Only applies within the environmental context, not self defense. Stupidity and ignorance using it intentionally for self defense apply, though.

Just get the good stuff, Freez +P. I personally recommend it. I have been sprayed with it and I have sprayed a few bad guys with it. The bad guys I sprayed with it cried like babies.

+1 for Freeze. I have been tased. Sprayed with 3 different types of pepper spray. And I have been stabbed. Freeze was the worst experience of them all.

So how does one carry the Freeze spray? How big is the 2oz can?

The 2 oz is comparable to the standard LE Mk3 size for every other brand. You're looking at 5 1 second shots. Its roughly 4"x1.5". This is a simple nylon belt pouch. I have one of the 2 oz in my desk drawer as we speak. I am a big fan of the ones with the flip top, rather than the open top for pretty obvious reasons. Here is a whole Amazon search for Mk3 carriers, everything from leather to nylon to kydex. Supposedly there is a slight difference in can diameter between the Freeze +P and Mk3, so I don't know how well the kydex ones will work. I any case, its no more obtrusive on the belt than a spare mag. If you look around on sites like Amazon, sometimes the vendor will recommend a carrier along with the spray.

I have always hated the little "ladies keychain" versions of these things. Too often there is a safety lock on the button, and its more than I'd want to play with in an emergency.

Having used up a "few" cans of various brands of 'Mace' ,I can state that the majority had the perfect effect = instant stop and lots of screaming and runners from the nose to the ground !.
Primary time was as an LEO and at lots of bar fights and a few domestics,as well as in the jail during 'conflicts' that needed resolving asap.
IF LEGAL, try to get a high end can of stuff that you will actually carry --- AND train with [ inert stuff is available ,any brand will do ].
