This may be the first time I have seen them actually market a pistol as a self defense weapon for civilians...

I have never been that interested in stuff like this, but if it was as reliable as every other Ruger I know of, it might be pretty nice.
 
This is also the first time I have seen them copy another manufactures gun, right down to the parts list drawing!

It actually looks like it has a lot nicer finish than the kel-tec to me. The grip has a lot more shape to it. Also, does the kel-tec have a slide stop? The Ruger looks like it has an additional button that looks like a slide stop to me. MSRP is about the same, the kel-tecs with optional finishes actually cost more.

I am not sure if I'd pick one of these up, but I think I'd have a harder time buying a kel-tec if this was next to it.

wait until Ruger copies the KT Pf9 and makes it work like it should. My prediction: IT WILL HAPPEN..
