We lost HSO.

WHAT?!

He'd just posted on Saturday morning.

I cursed (to myself) when I read the news,

Not a slam at any other members, but HSO was so darn mellow, factual, convincing and conciliatory that even if one disagreed with anything he ever said (pretty sure I never did), you still liked the content and tone of his words and wanted to know him.

This is so sad. My thoughts and prayers to his family...
He was so mellow!

I hadn't checked in for a few days and this was not an update I wanted to find. Mike will be missed. I enjoyed his discussions on knives and how he occasionally asked me about a project and gave me a little nudge to get back into the shop and make something.

This is his last post:

Post in thread 'Should firearm training be mandatory?'
https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...rm-training-be-mandatory.939038/post-13109372

On the Texas Gun Talk, when a member passes on from this world, a moderator (or someone) will post a link to their last post. Everyone will go to that post and “Like” it as a show of respect.

May be a worthwhile tradition to start here…
We have over 60 likes. Kinda like one last acknowledgement of a person we will sorely miss.

Awful, awful news!

Mike was a wonderful guy and the epitome of knowledgeable and responsible firearm ownership. He quietly talked the talk, walked the walk and was well and widely respected.

The rooms won't be the same without those shirts and smiles brightening them.

As many have noted, the world is greatly diminished.
