IIRC, carrying at sporting events, with or without a CHL, is prohibited under Texas state law, but we will be at the Toyota Center tonight for a concert.

The Toyota Center's webpage specifically said no weapons of any type are allowed, but do they have proper 30.06 signs posted, OR metal detectors (walk-through or wand)?

In the absence of information, I will assume I cannot carry there, but if nothing is legally preventing me from carrying, I'd prefer not to disarm myself.

Hey, A.B., fellow Houstonian. It's posted with compliant 3006 signs at the entrances, but there is some discussion as to whether or not they're legal....Toyota Center is owned by HCHSA, a county government agency.

I'm kind of chicken, I don't want to be a test case.

Yeah it's BS is what it is. The law clearly says property owned or leased by a governmental entity can't post the signs.

It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.

But, a few DA's around the state have said that when anther entity rents out the building that THEY become the controlling entity. But, that's not what the law says.

Dallas took the signs down from the American Airlines Center for that reason.
I got the City of Ft Worth to take them down from the Stockshow buildings for the same reason, but a couple of other jerks are playing hardball.

Have to say I'm not surprised to see that it's still going on in Houston.....

Given the very clear wording of the law I don't believe they could prevail in court, but like you say, who wants to be the test case against the morons.

That said, I did carry concealed into the Ft Worth stockshow while it was still posted, concealed means concealed and all that. You have to figure what your own personal pain point is :)

I recommend you call the TSRA and see what they have to say about it. They got involved with me over the Will Rogers buildings where the stockshow is held and the city attorney had the signs taken down.

I looked last night, and I didn't see them posted.
