I have been wanting a nice rifle.Ive called and found a good deal on a Accumark in a 300 Weatherby Mag how would that caliber work as an all around caliber.I mostly deer hunt but someday would like to go Elk hunting
Anyone have or shoot a 300 Weatherby

I've shot a couple of 300 Weatherby's. They are by no means a beginner's rifle, but for me the recoil is manageable. If you have experience shooting other high-powered rifles and are not recoil sensitive then go ahead and get that rifle. Bullets will be expensive if you don't reload. Around here the cheapest factory stuff I've seen for a 300 Wthby was about $60 per 20 round box! A little too rich for my blood, but if it is not an issue for you then by all means go get it.

Of course someone will come along in a few minutes and tell you that a 300 Wthby is entirely too much rifle for a deer. My view is that as long as you can shoot it well enough to make good, clean shots...dead is dead.

thank you marksman ive shot basically all my life.I do reload I would prob get a box of factory ammo and then reload after that.Ive shot several 7 mm rem mags and recoil was never a problem.I was'nt really thinking on the 300 but just found a great deal on it

i just saw one of these, sold at a Carter's country for 1700. bucks with tax, it had a A grade piece of Claro walnut on it. what is the price you see on yours?

I shot a .300 Wby (Vanguard synthetic, so lighter than an Accumark I think) with a muzzlebrake on it. It was not at all bad, recoil-wise.
