I recently purchased a Weatherby PA-459 12 gauge pump. I've shot it a few times and done some tinkering, and have it set up so that it suits me pretty well.
The gun comes with a short length of rail mounted ahead of the ghost ring sight. I have no plans to mount anything on the rail, so I removed it.
Here's where the puzzle arises. I'd like to plug the holes, but I'm not sure what size the screws are. They look like 8-40, and an 8-40 screw will start. It won't screw in, though. The receiver is aluminum, and I don't want to risk buggering up the threads. These guns are made in Turkey, and I fear they might be using some metric size.
Does anyone know for sure what size screws these are? An email to Weatherby customer service went unanswered. They do list a set of screws in their parts list. I could buy a set, cut off the heads and slot them, but if it's a size I can buy locally, it would be so much simpler.
