Okay, this is going to sound hokey, but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. What I mean to say is this. Every one of us, and I mean everyone, should write their house and senate reps with this idea. Let's turn the White House and Capital Buildings into "gun free zones."

I know you're going to tell me that civilians can't carry there, but I promise you these places are not gun free zones. There are people who are required to carry weapons in these places. So, the answer is no. They need to be truly as gun free as our schools.

What do you think? Out of concern for our nations leaders these places should be made gun free--how could they publicly counter this and save face?

I think our focus is on eliminating gun-free zones rather than creating more. And yes I know your post is slightly sarcastic or is at least meant to showcase their hypocrisy, but subtle approaches are usually not understood. That suggestion could easily be twisted into "THR posters are pushing for expanded gun-free zones!"

There are already polls to that effect out there. The idea is absurd on the face of it.

There are real and credible threats to the government and offices of the federal government as well as the elected and appointed officials in the form of Al Queda and other sworn enemies of the U.S. Those real and credible threats attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon with airliners and have plotted to attack with everything from individuals armed with handguns and rifles on up.

Then there's the home grown nut cases and cranks that have bee stopped and prevented from carrying out attacks.

Ask yourself this, do "you" want to be responsible for playing a role in making these threats more effective?

It depends. These people are not stupid. They know full well that the school my kids go to is defenseless. They know damn well they are pushing their agenda at the cost of the lives of our small children. Sandy Hook isn't the first time. Columbine wasn't the only other occurrence. Let's ask these pricks to put their money where their mouth is.

Not practical, but it makes for some of us to "vent" over the other bad ideas that are floating around. Apparently, logic has left our government in a lot of areas. Maybe, it will return soon.
