35"ish OAL, 18 5/16" barrel, Mesa tactical LEO adapter, trimmed up factory Remington forend, scattergun tech 7 round extension, I cut the barrel, and factory Remington sight. I also took a file/emery cloth to the front of the reciever and broke those edges. Re-blued everything. I might paint it this spring. Side saddle and shell holder on the buttstock are in the future along with a sling.
 
Thanks tactikel. I think the hardest part, mentally, was drilling the dimples out of the mag tube, that was the first metal removal, after that it was alright. If anyone has questions just ask, it's not hard, but there's some things I'll do differently next time.
 
How do you like the Mesa LEO? I am really considering that setup, but just can't pull the trigger on it. I have a totally stock 870 Police Magnum.
How would you compare the handling and performance with the LEO and a regular shotgun stock?
 
I like it so far. I haven't gotten home before dark this week so I haven't had time to shoot it. As far as handling, I like that I can tuck my elbow in tight, as opposed to on a wing shooter how you have your elbow out to the side. In a few mock room clearings it seems to work better. I had a vertical grip up front but didn't like it, it would bind up the action bar because of pulling down low. I'm working on finding a light set up that I like. I realize that's more than you asked but i get carried away.

All in all I like the LEO adapter much more that other pistol grips.

I am having a hard time dropping that kind of money just to try it out on a whim. Where did you end up buying the LEO at?

Alright folks. That thing kicks, through the cheek, the shoulder hit isn't bad; I like the pistol grip. I need a little foam on it for my cheek weld. Other than that I love it. I'm going to order a recoil pad eventually. All in all great stock, worth the money in my mind, but I did have spare cash at the time. Also that sight is awesome in low light. At dusk deep in the woods it stood out like a laser.

ready me; what are you looking for in a stock? I shoot my buddys police mag every now and then and I like this set up better. Ordered it from tacticalshotgunner.com
 
thanks for quick reply, but is it possible to add a milspec tube?

i see adapters on ebay for $60 bucks(no pistol grip, stock or tube), am hoping i can just add my own tube or will it only accept commercial?
 
I think the threads are the same on mil-spec/commercial. I just ordered the kit from mesa. You can probably run any tube you want.
 
Alright, I'm thinking about getting rid of the mesa stock. I've shot some 3" mag loads today, and i think my cheek is gonna be bruised. The bore axis is changed alot and it makes the kick different. I'm considering getting a plain 'ol synthetic stock.

Kicks a little too hard now? That was my big concern, and why I did not want to drop the money on it to give it a shot.
Is the only problem the muzzle rise?
 
Well, I guess you could call it muzzle rise. It's poppin the hell outta my cheek. I think the high mount with optics would be better, but I'm just switching back to my old trusty wood stock.
 
Should be able to use any tube you want, I would imagine that Mesa taps there stock adapters with a 1 3/16-16 tap, just like the AR manufacturers.
 
I'm gonna send it back and get a refund.

I actually went and got my dads 10 gauge out of the safe to shoot just to make sure I wasn't being a big baby. lol I think it just doesn't work with my body ergonomics. I'm perfectly happy shooting duck/goose loads all day long, so recoil doesn't scare me, but not with this set up.
 
Yep, just clicks on. Factory Remington, comes with a triange, lil dot and the big dot I'm running. Cutting the barrel isn't hard, go for it.
 
Any questions just ask. I used card stock wrapped around and lined up to get a straight line, then scribed with a pencil, then taped that line. I would use a hack saw if I had it to do over agian. Just nick it all the way around to get a good line and then start cutting in. Go at least a 1/8th over you desired length, because thats room to fix a boo-boo and if not a 1/8th wont hurt. Once you've cut it take a bastard file and file at a 45 degree angle to break the edge then come over with some emery/sand cloth to get that smooth look.

Do you know the dowel rod measuring method?

p.s. Cold blue works, but I'll be buying the paste next time I need some. The liquid is hard to applie precisely. However if you are only cutting you barrel you can just dip the barrel in it and hold for 30 seconds, pull it out for 30 seconds then wipe dry, rinse. Let sit for 5 minutes and then decide if you want another round. (not the instructions, but easier...) I had issues with getting it around the reciever where I filed the edges and it wouldn't stay. It took 3-4 times to darken it up.
 
i usually dont like ar15 style stocks on shotguns, but this ones got me looking on ebay. =)

i dont think mine will look as good as yours since i wont have the ribbed barrel and +2 extension.
