I like the idea
I recall wanting a lanyard while building Duck blinds in South Georgia.
I wanted a neck lanyard carry for my M-38. Snakes and Gators.
Ended up using the trigger guard, not recommended.

Can't have too many guns with lanyards loops.

Modified the heel of the grip frame on an older Ruger SA years ago like the one on the 1911 here. Colt used the same approach on their Woodsman way back when. Unobtrusive and gets the job done.
The lanyard loop option should be available for any serious handgun. Interestingly they seem to be making a comeback in the military and will probably be seen more often in the future.

My knot tying left much to reccomend.
If you don't know how to tie off something well, keep you shirt tucked in.
Never thought A GI lanyard was idiot proof until I went outside the box.
