I would like to know who made this gun for mongomery ward. Also would like to know what kind of trigger guard it takes. It came in a [ 700 adl ? ] stock that has a blind magazine [ the stock was redrilled to fit the action ]. It has a magazine box that is made something like a rem. 700 but it has a half round tab on each sid at the top and the action was cut to fit. Was this gun made with a blind magazine? I want to re-do this gun and have a magazine that will drop the shells out the bottem. thanks larry

If it is a Golden State then the odds are very high that it is a worked over Mauser 98 Action. A gunsmith should be able to tell you. Golden State didn't make firearms, their claim to fame was reworking surplus miltary firarms into sporters, rechambering miltary firearms to take the 30-06 and rebuilding ( with cast receivers and suplus military parts ) miltary firearms such as the Carbine, Springfield and Garand.
