One.

Yup, I change the water with each batch of cases to be cleaned.

And don't forget to rinse the brass and pins to get extra cleaner (what ever you use) off the brass and pins.

I can't even imaging not throwing out the water after running one batch of brass.

Everything you've just cleaned off the cases is suspended in that water...that is why it is black.

Reusing the water would be like using the same bath water for the whole family

If they are really grungy I might even change the water in the middle of a batch! Otherwise each batch gets clean water.
(Pins get rinsed after each batch as well)

Water is used once only.

Every batch that I tumble gets fresh water. I also rinse the pins after I empty the drum.

One batch or less. It can help if you just let your brass soak for an hour or so before tumbling as well.
