What are the current junk guns brands??

I'm surprised someone didn't mention Phoenix earlier. My experience with Phoenix is relatively good. It is "pot metal" but it does generally work. As in... most of the time. I don't carry one. Bit it is a REALLY fun plinker/training tool. Cheap too! For being what I really consider a "junk gun" it is a really good "junk gun".

Slide cracked after a few hundred rounds, but they sent a new one (with an updated design) right away!

The Phoenix I would say could be considered a "Saturday Night Special". Yes they are cheap cost, and yes use a pot metal. But man are they fun and they run like crazy. I have so many rounds through mine I can't even remember the count. The only frame cracks I have heard about over the years is when someone uses "HyPer" velocity but not high velocity. I have alway's used standard velocity ammo without nary a problem. If fact that is one of the good things about the gun, is the fact that it loves cheap ammo. Some say the gun is not all that accurate. I say BS on that one. It is a gun you need to shoot often and once YOU get good then it will shoot some very tight, groups at rapid fire. Gun-test magazine, which is a independent gun test mag without ads, gave it a A rating. Most of the owners over the years have rated the gun very high for plinking and training. I just wish all my 22.cal pistols shot as well.
Cons- there is no last round hold-Solution, was to put a Calibri round in first and would know when empty.
Too many confusing safeties. Solution was a very easy fix which many video's on internet. Took about 10 minutes to fix.
Nice triggers.

Mags and parts are cheap. Even barrels can be replaced on the cheap and believe it or not, they come with a "Lifetime Warranty" and great customer service.

One of the most underrated guns out there. For $125 from Bud's, you do not have much to loose.

My frame didn't crack, it was the slide. Also... consider it BS or not... my example was not stellar in the accuracy department. It's accuracy was a solid "OK" for a pocket pistol, but nothing like a Ruger Mk series. Although, it isn't really designed to compete with them. Definitely one of the best of the "junk" guns. Miles above (in quality) a Jennings, Lorcin, etc. I even like it better than the Hi-Points I've shot.

If you read on enough shooting forums you will hear tales of woe with all manufacturers firearms, and they are considered junk guns by the poster. Like beauty, junk is in the eye of the beholder.

My local gun shop has a "junk" case of firearms. I rarely look at it but I don't usually see anything in there costing over $150. Lots of Jennings, Phoenix Arms, Bryco, some beat up High Points, and revolvers I am not very familiar with. I suppose if I ever came upon really hard times and needed another gun, I would get something in there. With the amount a rust I would probably want a Tetanus shot before hand though.

I own 3 of the junk guns in this post a Phoenix with both barrels,a Tarus 85 357mag both bought in the mid 90’s both still shoot very well and a PMR30 about 6 months ago.1000’s of rounds though both 22’s. Min. of golf ball until it’s out of sight. The 85 is good for 3inch groups off hand at 25 yards with Hornady rounds.I wouldn’t sell any of the 3 ,but if something happened to them I would not replace them.
I have bought 2 Rugar’s and 1 Marlin that were junk not the brands fault just some slip though.I have looked at a lot of 22 revolvers that are new and junk this year big gaps bad timing and loose.
Of all my guns the Phoenix has the best Warranty .

What is sad while thinking about this thread is that, if offered the choice between a HiPoint C9 and a new Remington M51, with no opportunity to test them at the range or on the mountain, I would probably opt for the HiPoint C9, sight unseen, gun untested.

(I am so disappointed the 51 did not work out, and have slight confidence that the Corporation fixed the problems.)

As much as I hate to say it, Im completely with you there. I have had some experience with Taurus PT-11 Gen 2 as well. Neither were anything I would speak up for or purchase as personal choice, but hey, as long as it hurls the bullet at the bad guy, we can't really complain.

Hi-point owner here .380 acp. I have fired probably 250-300 rounds out of it. I've had multiple stove pipes a few FTF and some FTCs. Mostly with whinchester white box, but also with federal ammo. I feel if hi-point didn't use such a heavy slide most of their problems would fade away. If it's the only thing you can afford (at the time I paid $70) then yes buy one defend yourself. If you have a larger budget don't skimp because you think your getting a deal.
