What are the DUMBEST hunting regs in your state?

Speaking of "t" shot what the heck is it? I've only ever seen it referenced in hunting regs

0.020" pellets. Steel Ts were invented, along with F shot, for goose hunting when lead was outlawed. They carry the necessary energy down range. BBB really isn't enough. The 3.5" 12 was invented to be able to carry enough Ts to pattern at longer ranges. 10 gauge is really best, though, IMHO. That's what I use. Before the advent of steel shot, Ts didn't exist. Goose hunting is what they were invented for, not coyotes. For geese, until lead shot comes back, I'll stick with 3.5" 10 gauge steel Ts. It's more affordable than hevi shot and it works. I've got a back of it for reloading when I get enough hulls to load. :D

I will say 12ga T shot makes a hash of a teal coming in on decoys 25' away.. I loaded the wrong round. First time I ever had exit wounds on a bird!

That you can't hunt deer with a centerfire rifle in almost all Iowa counties - and only during the January antlerless season when it is allowed. Its the thing that irks me the most at least.

The best thing in the regs in my state is that disabled vets can get a lifetime hunting and fishing license for something like $7. Best seven bucks I ever spent I think. Better than the last opportunity I had to blow seven (well, $6.99 :D) bucks on something gun related at least.

Archery season for Antelope is before the rut in Colorado. Rifle season is during the rut in Colorado!!@!

Still and forever....

STEEL SHOT LAWS
Amen to that. Thankfully it's not the crap that it once was. I bought a 100 round case of Remington Wingmaster HD (hevi-shot) T, 3.5", 12ga at the end of last season for a reasonable price. (well, reasonable for hevi-shot) I'm going to try it out on snow geese this coming season if they show up where I hunt.

Inside 40 yards, steel Ts will shoot through a snow goose, let alone a teal. The stuff packs a whollop. :D

Yeah, Chas, steel works a lot better now days, especially the fasteel stuff, but what just seems stupid to me is that in September I'll be in a field with lead 7.5s popping doves and then in November, same friggin' field, I have to shoot steel on geese and ducks. It makes no sense. However, I dare not complain to parks and wildlife or I'll be shooting steel on doves. Morons.....

Yep...you're probably right. In this case it might be wise to remember the immortal words of Elmer Fudd and "Be veewwy veewwy Quiet" :D

Firearm magazines that hold no more than 5 rounds +1 in the chamber in Nebraska. Eliminates my ability to use the Glock 20 on a late season doe.

Magazine restrictions in general are rediculous, does anyone think we can legislate unethical hunters into ethical ones?

States that lack a season to legally use a handgun for hunting--NEW JERSEY.

In Texas, rifle for turkey has been legal during the fall season for years. We shoot them in the drumsticks and save the breast.

WHAT?!?!? No head shots??? :D

Once steel became mandatory, I, along with a lot of others, stopped buying duck stamps and spending money hunting them

We have funny regulations were in Portugal too. The law says that we cannot illuminate wild boars when hunting at night. And it says nothing else about light.

Infrared light is light, and although it is not visible to human or animal eyes, it will illuminate a wild boar and make it visible if we are using a night vision scope.

Many night vision scopes have non detachable infrared light emitters (flashlights), so you can’t really leave the infrared illuminator home.

Moral of the story: no one really knows if it’s legal to use a night vision scope that has an infrared illuminator, although it is legal to sell it to hunters. Not even the police really know if it is legal to use that equipment (some officers say one thing, and others say the opposite).

The only way we can be happily hunting at night is if we have a night vision scope with a broke illuminator, lolololol

That is why most of us will use daytime scopes with 3-12x56 RD configuration during night hunting.

No sidearm when bow hunting. It might not be a big deal, but we have a ton of mountain lion, and no season for them.

Nahh...they move around to much to be a high percentage probability. The bottom end however...not so much.:D

I love the hunt too much to do that. I'd probably chase them with sticks if it was all that was legal.

Shoot em in the base of the neck. it is pretty stationary. A pair of slow smoked drumsticks are worth eating around the mesquite and ocotillo thorns!

No hunting of bears in Florida. Which I find odd considering my girlfriends son had 3 ON HIS ROOF the other day.

I took a black bear in Florida using an automatic....

...transmission Oldsmobile.

Yeah, waterfowl is just a lifestyle I can't give up. I started hunting 'em at age 14. It's the only free hunting I had except squirrel and rabbit. I got addicted. It's like crack, can't give it up. :D

Wow. Just found out today that Florida opens Archery this year in 2 weeks. July 31st. That's a dumb regulation simply because I REALLY don't want to be hunting deer in 100 degree weather. I'll smell like an old sweatsock soaked in deer urine before I even get to my stand...

In Kansas if I buy a Landowner deer tag it is good only on my land at a cost of $17.50. If I buy a Landowner/tenant tag it is good across the whole unit of my choice. The price is also $17.50 so its the same price to hunt anywhere in two-three counties as opposed to my 80 acre farm.

In Ohio, it would be legal to hunt deer with a Thompson Center Contender pistol equipped with 16" barrel chambered in 357mag....but it is illegal to hunt deer with a 16" barreled 357mag lever action...Think the deer knows the difference?

Missouri has a similar law to the one the OP stated about hogs on public land but other than that Mo has good laws. I actually agree with our antler point restrictions which generally mean nothing under an 8 pointer in much of state.

An acquaintance in Alaska popped a ptarmigan in the head with a rock, not having a shotgun handy. They are very easy to walk up on, and one lucky shot later the bird was ready for the dinner table. The F&W folks made him wait while they flipped through the rules and regs on hunting to try and stick him with a ticket for killing the bird with a rock.

Also you have to write it on your tag that you have caught and killed a king salmon before your line can touch the water again, otherwise you will see a figure emerge from its hidden bush with a hefty ticket made out just for you.

Used to be in Alabama you could kill 2 does and 1 antlered buck per day. Now they have changed that to 2 does, but only 3 antlered bucks during the whole season. They merely offer this as a suggestion though, for they do not keep track of how many bucks you have killed throughout the season.

in wa ther is no hound hunting no bear baiting and no traping the wsfw/game police busted a extermanater for using mole and mouse traps HOW DARE YOU USE A MOUSETRAP thanks peta another one we lost
