As part of an effort to establish a "library" of some of the most informative, high signal-to-noise ration threads in the Rifle Forum, I invite everyone to recommend or share threads that they have found particularly helpful in making decisions or learning about a subject.

I am particularly interested in subjects that come up quite a bit (AK v. AR, 5.56 is a death ray/doesn't kill mice, etc.)

One I found particularly informative was on .223 twist rates. Before I bought one, I garnered several opinions and got some excellent information. I see that topic pop up periodically, so a 'best of' would be great. Perhaps even combining it with .22LR, 30-06, .308, 45-70, and any other twist rate questions that may have been discussed. It just seems .223 is the most common.

Also, a combined? thread on cleaning Cosmoline from rifles. (Obviously concerned with milsurp, but there's no other specific place.) It occasionally pops up, along with the corrosive ammo question. As with anything, there's info all over the Internet, but the THR answers are scattered and repeatedly asked....and it's always the same answers. Should be pretty easy to catalog.

If you were actually asking for specific links, sorry. Let me know and I'll search some up when I'm back at work and connected to the broad band world.
    Thanks,
    RT

We need to find something about AR15 choice / configuration. You have written a lot of good info on this topic here.

Oh, also a "Gas impingement FAQ" would be a good idea, since it's often argued very religiously.

There are a lot of FAL threads that have some pretty helpful information on those rifles. Same same with the AK and variants.

Anything informatively discussing terminal ballistics would be pretty useful, I'm sure.

AR configurations, like Zak said, as well as discussions of common optics/accessories would be a hit.

Discussions of different AK varieties, Saiga conversions, etc.

The 'scout' rifle concept is another hot topic that gets brought up frequently.

I don't know if it would be just rifles, but there was an excellent boiled linseed oil / stock refinishing thread not too far back.

Some of these do cross Forums Topics - still the core idea is the Rifle.

Many of the AR vs AK threads are very informative. You just have to sift through the BS first.

There are a great many CMP and M1 Garand threads that are very good.

Kind of a difficult to come up with a solid answer.

We enjoy a multitude of firearms, some we reload for, some are for defence, target, hunting etc. The people in the mid-west or flatlands oviously may select different arms then I would upstate NY. So oviously when I have a question about an interest of mine of if someone else dose the same and I can chime in and participate these are the thread that will interest me.
Thing is THR has a high volume of users, normally this is a good thing. Now perhaps in the Rifle & Shotgun sections it's not hard to recover / find such threads, but in general for example a thread you were in one day could wind up burried 4-5 pages deep the next week.

Maybe a wing of your library could be dedicated to hanging crap off a 10/22 or AR variant. With a section of that wing devoted to SKS modifications.

Actually, in all honesty, this would be a daunting task; there is a lot of useful info floating around here. One minor suggestion would be splitting the rifle section to autos and non autos as the pistol side is.

All good suggestions; but if you can provide links to the threads in question it would be a big help.
